Likes

Faculty is supportive and nice. Each department have a fair share of good teachers you are willing to go out of their professional duties to help you out.
The socities and clubs are really active. All societies organize a number of events and you can learn a lot.
The facilities are nice. There are air conditioned computer labs, a new science building is being made, there is a new gym, the playground is really good and classrooms are fine.

Dislikes

The college canteen is worse than normal. The prices are low but they should be for the poor quality of food. The canteen staff is also slow.
Seating arrangements. You might require to move to a different classroom per period and sometimes classrooms are not alloted and students themselves require to find classrooms.
placements and internships are something you will have to find your own. There is a placement cell but it is not as good.

The English department of jdmc appeared better than others. The faculty: student ratio is decent. A fair mix of assistant professors and Ph.D.-qualified professors. There are 6 semesters and each semester has exams. The mid-term and internal marks are fairly judged based top best assignment scores and test scores in each subject.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college is not transparent regarding fee structures. The degree can cost you around 45k. First-year fees is kept lower and it increases by year. You will need to be personally aware regarding financial assistance as I personally have not seen college making students aware of the same.

Campus Life

The clubs are fairly active. There are more than 20+ clubs and you can definitely find one that suits your interests. The infrastructure is a bit confusing but there are all the facilities you will need. You can find Inquisition for quiz club, logos for literary, Etihad for MUN, and furthermore.

Admission

Admission was done through the CBSE board results. Applied through DU (Delhi University) admissions website with Rs. 150 application fees. Was admitted through OBC quota. The system has been changed for admission and I am not much informed regarding CUET. But I suppose it is better than the previous system, CUET is more uniform and fair.

Kamala Nehru College: Where Opportunity awaits

Likes

I really liked the environment of the college as there was a diverse set of students coming from across the country.
The faculty was top notch and was very dedicated and knowledgeable. If we faced any issue they would come up to help us deal with it.
Also i liked the infrastructure of the college as they recently added a new building and have improved a lot in sports equipments and facilities.

Dislikes

The admin section of the college is very slow and it is a hassle to deal with them. Half a time they are either on a break or on lunch.
There is sometimes non availability of chairs in classrooms like there are approx 40 chairs in each classroom but if the strength of the class is more then we have to borrow it from the next classroom.
Also you will have to take up some additional course which sometimes feel unnecessary but its not only in this particular college but in all the colleges under University of Delhi.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

My college was a girl's college. There are maximum 60students in a class. Prints were quite cheap in the college cafe.
There were many fest functions in my college. I also participated in the dance fest in my first year. We also used to go on picnics from college.
India's chief guest at the annual function was M Venkaiah Naidu.

Dislikes

College fees were very high for general category people.
The behavior of many teachers was quite rude and arrogant as if they were teaching us for free.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to do PhD in Political Science but due to percentage I took up BA program. Teachers used to provide notes but mostly I used to be off. There was nothing wrong with the college. Exam timings were good.

KMC in my words

Likes

I liked the environment and the crowd of the college, and also my professors. Like seriously they are so helpful and kind
Also what I like about this college is that it's liberal unlike other colleges of North campus
I love the ashoka lawn and the big ground in front of the gym

Dislikes

I hate the staff, especially the technical staff ( Ankita Jain ), I went to her with erp portal issue and she just didn't look after my issue properly and sent me away. It was totally unexpected. She must be removed from her position.
The canteen staff, I didn't like their behaviour
Some of the seniors are shit and not helpful

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate it 9 out of 10. The reason is simple, whatever my professors teach and everything that is there in my syllabus is really helpful for my future. Not just that, they way lectures are delivered by the professors is just awesome

An idiot's guide around college

Likes

environment of my college is far better than all the other colleges I have been to, there is zero to none chances of there ever being something unsafe on campus
maintenance of my college is taken very seriously, in only my 1st month of attending college ii saw precautions being taken due to heavy flooding in the college campus
accessibility is one of the things in my college that is so serious and provided with such care that it feels weird when outside campus no such accessibility is not to be seen

Dislikes

there is little to no room for giving students relaxibility in situations of difficulty during talks of giving a leave or not

philosophy as va discipline covers mostlt all the subjects related to humanities, it'll widen your knowledge and you thinking abillity more than that of a oridinary student, the job market is quite difficult for this course

Is Delhi University Worth it ?

In my college I like my course, my friends and the societies
The crowd of the colleges is also very nice
The campus is peaceful interesting and I love the college

Dislikes

I do not like the infrastructure of the college it needs to be renovated
I also don't like the classes which start from 8:40 thats to early for us
I personally feel that the college portal does not work properly but that's okay

Being brutally honest I don't think that the course contributes a lot to our preparation for the real world but it teaches us very new things which I like. The course might not be very helpful in our real life preparation or the preparation for the real world but at the same time it enhances our knowledge and teachers as about various new things so I am satisfied with my course and whatever the curriculum includes I like it

I like the campus as it is really big with canteens for students who don't bring food with them
Library access is what i love the most about the college as they have very peaceful environment also have a wide range of books.
Sports opportunities in here people who are actually interested in sports are provided with opportunities and skills it also have sports courts and playgrounds.

Dislikes

Timing of library it don't open on Saturday on which we have only 1-2 class with lot of gaps in between during which if a student want to study in library then its not possible.
Societies in colleges sometimes charges a lot of money in names of events and Society fund lack.
Groupism in classes due to family background and looks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In term of relevance I'll say that there are many topics which should not be taught as they are way too old and contradicting in modern times. New tumes problems and solutions should be taught in replace focusing on present.

Decent internship exposure with good opportunities

Likes

The crowd is quite good and competitive. Students are motivated, focused on academics, internships and skill development.
Teachers are knowledgeable and supportive. Most faculty members explain concepts clearly, encourage class participation and are approachable.
Syllabus is well-structured and is relevant to the industry reuqirements. It balances theoritical knowledge with practical exposure.

Dislikes

Size of the campus is relatively smaller to the main campus.

Placement Experience:

Final year students are generally placed with an average package of 7-8 lakhs for management programs. Companies including the big 4 like EY, KPMG, Deloitte and other reputed companies have visited and many offers have been made. Around 60% of the students get placed in management branch. After getting the degree, I am also planning to appear in the placement opportunities.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

College provides a free environment for sports.
It is ragging free college and many anti ragging laws are here
One of the best features of our college is it in origanising seminar time to time.

Dislikes

There is a issue in time table uncertain classes are a problem for us
So high attendance criteria makes us in trouble.
There are not hostal facility which make a critical situation.

I chose the course because I want to become ias.approximately 100students in class . . Many proofesser are highly educated like PhD ma etc our faculty offers many opportunities.There are 6 semester in 3 years and 2 in each year .it is normal to crack the exam but hard to get High marks

A students perspective on jdmc

I choose Janki Devi Memorial College mainly because it is a Delhi University College and has a good academic environment. I had applied to a few other DU colleges as well but the cutoffs is some of first slightly higher so, I could not get my preferred course there. When I got admission in Janki Devi Memorial College, I found that the faculty, infrastructure and overall environment is good, so I decided to continue here instead of waiting for further rounds. In comparison to other college I considerd JDMC has a disciplined environment, supported teachers and regular academic activities. The crowd is decent and the college focuses well or academics along with society and extra curricular activities which also influenced my decision.The admission process was conducted through Delhi University procedure. Eligibility depends on completing class 12th and qualifying through the entrance process used by DU. After the after the results and cut off education list are released, students confirmed their seats by submitting documents and paying the fees online. Overall admission process is what all the competition and cut off can be high with me getting into top colleges difficult. Admission process was through CUET UG exam. The selection was done through CSAS portal based on our preference list and marks in CUET exam. Compared to other colleges, Janki is pretty quiet and isolated from other du colleges, which is good for safety. It is evolving each year and for an off campus college it's amazing.
