A Brief Review on SRMIST

The course curriculum is very punctual. I already had an avid interest in technology and computers and it was my dream to pursue this field. The faculty: student ratio is great, most of them are well qualified for their position. The institution maintains a bar for their faculty as they are the face of the institution. Hence they do not compromise with qualifications. The teaching methods depends from person to person, for example one might like to be more subjective about topics, while the other gives everyone a chance to interact and understand the concepts. Exams take place once a month, and the syllabus is well constructed. One who puts in effort shouldn't find it difficult to pass.

Big companies such as Microsoft, Dell, TCS, IBM, Accenture, Motorq, Google, Amazon, Samsung, Cisco, etc. came to campus for placements in the previous years and offered packages ranging from 12-15L to 20-32L. For securing good internships, one has to prove that he is capable of the position he is aiming for. A good CV is a must, assistant by a decent CGPA, eye catching projects, good knowledge about DSA and a well rounded character. The deserving are always rewarded. Seniors and faculty can be always consulted for assistance upon their aim and preparation cause at the end of the day, it's where we stand.

Students are eligible for campus placements from 6th or 7th semester. Many companies like IBM, TCS, Accenture, Wipro, Bosch, Microsoft, Amazon, Lenovo, etc visit the campus and many offers ranging from mass recruitment to super dream packages are offered. The highest package offered is 1Cr and the average package offered is 7-8L. For CSE it might be upto 10L. There are good charts of students getting placements from this institution.

The fee structure needs a little attention. An average student is paying 4.5L to study computer science core for a year, exclusive of hostel fees. Hostels charge 95k to 2.5L, depending upon facilities offered and number of roommates. Other streams have to pay lesser than CSE students, but nothing goes before 2.5L/year. Scholarships are respected in this institution and they are awarded to every deserving candidate. A JEE rank below 100, or a state rank of first gets a 100% scholarship. Sports quota is also prevalent in this institution. Financial Assistance is offered from time to time, it is the responsibility of the student to take it into account.

SRM has one of the best campus lives any institution can offer. They have technocultural fests like AARUUSH, MILAN and small fests like Jhalak and Shuru. AARUUSH is usually conducted in fall semester i.e. during September and MILAN is conducted during spring semester i.e. during March. Many notable celebrities and popular icons are invited to these events. Overall the students have a great time and create memories they can cherish throughout their life. SRM has one of the most resourceful libraries. They have books in Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics , Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Foreign Languages, Programming Languages, Ethics, Biographies, Help books and what not! It is quite impossible to explore every genre available about there. Classrooms are air conditioned with a projector along with a white screen and a green board. Chairs are comfy, suitable for long houred lectures. Cleanliness on point. One should not have any major problem with the classroom amenities.

In SRM we have rooms with varying facilities. They include non ac attached bathroom, non ac common bathroom, ac attached bathroom. Rooms are built to accommodate 2-6 people depending upon fees. Meals provided in the mess can be called decent. There is no limit, anyone can take as much as they can eat, but wasting food is discouraged. Usually dinners have more diversity than other meals. One can register for hostels once the student portal has been unlocked. The cheapest rooms are for 95k which provide a common washroom and 5 inmates, while the most expensive ones are 2.5L which provide an ac, an attached washroom and 1 inmate. There are many flats and PGs available near the campus so students have the option to move out and live elsewhere while being in close proximity

The admission process was slow but breezy. Everything was properly instructed. The course required a 60%+ score in PCM and a good rank. They did not violate the policies. The application form can be found on the official website of the institution. The fees for the exam is 1200 INR and the frequency is 3 times a year. The exam takes place in April, June and July. Im not sure about Reservation Benefits but I believe they exist.
