The blessings and burdens of MUJ

MUJ conducts quizzes and assigns assignments to students on regular basis to ensure the consistency of students in studies. The labs and classes are scheduled in such a way that students' day is not hectic. Here, we follow a 5 day work week. Saturdays and Sundays are always off. The exams are of moderate difficulty. The curriculum of MUJ prepares us for the real-world application of technology vividly.

Campus placements were good till last year, this year there is a huge drop on placements for CSE/IT branches. Most of the students are unplaced. This may also be due to recession so can't really comment on that right now.

Tution fee of B.Tech is 3.09 Lacs per academic year. There are many Scholarships for wide range of students excelling in sports, studies, students who belong to army background, single child, etc. MUJ also relaxes deadlines for people who are not able to pay fee for their academics.

The campus life of MUJ is amazing. There are lots of clubs and societies here and events are conducted on a daily basis be it small events or big fests. Students get a lot of exposure through clubs and learn many things about event management, etc. Sports and extracurricular activities offered are more than sufficient for the number of students admitted here. There is one big library for students which has a wide range of books for students to refer. All kinds of books are available here. Classrooms are equipped with projectors which makes it easier for the students to grasp the subject. There are proper festival holidays for students, 2 long breaks (winter and summer breaks) are also there.

Hostel of MUJ could be a bit expensive. We pay 168000 per academic year for the hostel and 70000 for the mess. Laundry, Gym, Swimming Pool and WiFi excluded. The facilities here are good but everything is paid which makes it difficult to survive with less money. However, the meal quality in mess is good. There is no restriction on food, you can take as much as you want to eat, noone stops you from doing that. The meals are 8/10. Sometimes, the meals sre boring but otherwise its good. They serve both veg and non veg to students. Talking about PG and outhouse accomodation, they are almost equal to the rates of the hostel but everything included that means if you pay 1.6L in a PG, mess, gym, pool, etc everything will be included. However, if you opt to stay in a flat it would be much cheaper.

Manipal group conducts a Manipal Entrance Test called MET, which used to be an offline exam but since I was in the Covid batch, MET was held online, there are questions on physics, chemistry and mathematics. Different branches of Manipal have different cutoffs for different B.Tech branches. For example, Manipal University Jaipur had a MET cutoff of around 9000 for B.Tech CSE.
