Ques. Which one is better out of these: NIT Silchar, NIT Patna, or IIIT Jabalpur?

● Top Answer By Sapna Malik on 03 May 21

Ans. Giving a brief of what all I would be explaining below, NIT Silchar >> NIT Patna > IIIT Jabalpur in every aspect except location. Some of the facts about NIT Silchar will make you understand why this is my first choice: NIT Silchar is among the top engineering colleges of India. The ABP News National Education Awards has decided to honor NIT Silchar, with the Outstanding Engineering Institute, East India ·Nit Silchar has received many honors and it has one of the best infrastructures. NIRF Ranking by MHRD NIT Patna is far below NIT Silchar. Placements at NIT Silchar: The highest placement grabbed by the students is 14LPA by Directi. Many students got their internship converted to PPOs. Students got placed in top-notch companies like Samsung, Snapdeal, Reliance, etc. Other factors favoring NIT Silchar: It has a lush green, pollution-free campus with so many places to visit like lakes, tea gardens, etc. They have a great faculty. They are super supportive and help students in all ways possible. Ragging free environment and there is a great junior-senior culture on the campus. Great internet speed and connectivity 24/7 are just great. This leads to a very great time on campus. Placements are excellent and discussed in detail above. There is a great environment for startups and entrepreneurship. With the pros there are also some drawbacks like an on-going construction leads to disturbance and makes it difficult for the students to concentrate but as this will be over soon, the environment will restore to its default. The food quality of the mess is not up to the mark and needs improvement. Also, there are restrictions on in-out time for girls.  Read more

Ques. Which will be better, IIIT Guwahati, IIITDM Jabalpur or IIIT Kancheepuram?

● Top Answer By Sonali Jain on 29 Apr 21

Ans. My brother has just completed his B.tech from IIITDM Jabalpur and some of my friends also studied at the other two institutes. According to their experience and the NAAC Ranking, IIITDM tops among the three of them. The rating considers everything including infrastructure and facilities. Following are the key points that give IIITDM an edge over the two. Alumni network: IIITDM is the oldest institute having a much larger history and alumni base as compared to IIIT Guwahati, and IIIT Kancheepuram. Whereas the other two institutes might have just 2-3 batches completed. Campus: Knowledge is easily accessible to everyone even you can watch Stanford Lectures from Home. Here also, IIITDM Jabalpur is at advantage. The seniors are very helpful and won’t hesitate to give you a hand. Placements: IIITDM being located in the central part of India, has the advantage of better placements. Even core companies like ISRO and DRDO visit the campus for recruitment. Categories IIIT Guwahati IIITDM Jabalpur IIIT Kancheepuram Course Fee 9.05 lakhs 5.29 lakhs 5.25 - 6.55 lakhs Placement Percentage 60% 82% 75% Highest CTC 12-16 LPA 15-20 LPA 14 LPA Average CTC 5.2 LPA 7-8 LPA 7 LPA Recruiting Companies L&T, Infosys, HP, IBM, etc. Oracle, ISRO, DRDO, HCL, etc. Adobe, Amazon, nVidia, Zentrum Labs, etc. Global tie-ups: IIITDM Jabalpur has tie-ups with countries like Japan, China, and Korea which creates opportunities for higher education if you are interested. Infrastructure: It is clearly better than IIIT Guwahati, and IIIT Kancheepuram as the latter two are newly established hence lacking some basic facilities for now. All in all, it is not advisable to rely on the college just for jobs and placements. It is crucial to focus on learning and develop new skills which may come in handy in the future.Read more

Ans. IIIT Jabalpur hostels are good. Its rooms are just like any other private college. They are not like other Government college’s hostels. IIIT Jabalpur has 3 hostels, Hall of residence 1, Hall of residence 3, and Hall of residence 4.  Rooms: There are 1 seat, 3 seaters, and 4 seaters room. The rooms of hostels are spacious and big. Hostels do not have a/c facility in their room. There are beds for every single person. Each student also allotted wardrobes for keeping their personal belongings. All the rooms also have Wi-fi facilities with good bandwidth.  Canteens: The hostels also have a canteen facility that runs till midnight.  Restrictions: There are no strict restrictions on timing.  Hygiene and Cleanness: The hygiene and cleanses of the rooms are good. Cleaner comes to clean and mopped the room. These charges are included in the hostel fees.  Mess: The hostel has a mess facility. But students mostly don’t depend on the mess food. There are Nescafe, Subway, and other eateries outside the campus.  Sports facility: The hostel has a Student Activity Centre known as SAC, where there is a cricket ground, basketball, and volleyball court. Along with that it also has an indoor sports facility. So if you are a sports enthusiast, you will surely have a great time here. Ques. Which is better for CS/ECE NIT Hamirpur, NIT Jalandhar, IIIT Kancheepuram, IIIT Jabalpur?

● Top Answer By Manisha Malik on 25 Mar 21

Ans. Firstly, you need to know about the difference between CSE in a low-ranked college and an ECE in a high-ranked college. You have to be clear of your choices as the branch you choose will greatly decide the future of your career. CSE and ECE core subjects are somewhat different and they focus on different directions. In many NITs, IIIT, IIT you get a chance of branch change based on your academic performance, but please mind that it is not an easy process. So it is better to choose the correct branch at first. Categories NIT Hamirpur NIT Jalandhar IIIT Kancheepuram IIIT Jabalpur Course Fee 6.86-8.57 lakh 6.76 lakh 5.25-6.55 lakh 5.29 lakh Placement Percentage 60% 60-65% 75% 80% Highest CTC 8-10 LPA 13-15 LPA 15 LPA 16 LPA Average CTC 4-5 LPA 5-6 LPA 5 LPA 7-8 LPA Recruiting Companies Amazon, Paytm and Adobe Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung, Adobe, UHG, DE Shaw and Goldman Sachs. Adobe Reader, Zentrum Labs and L&T Capgemini, BHEL, Amazon, Global Logic, etc. Secondly, If you are keenly interested in the CSE branch we would suggest you go for IIIT Jabalpur as it is known for its CSE placements, curriculum, and culture. Now IIIT Kancheepuram is also a good college, but never join a college only for a Branch, you should look at parameters like the local city, distance from your hometown and food, you’ll get totally South Indian food in Kancheepuram.) So, if your preferred branch also comes with location perks, that option is the best for you. And with your NIT choices, they too are good but only if your preference is with ECE. If you are interested in CSE, go for IIITs.Read more

Ques. Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur: What is it like to be a student at IIITDMJ?

● Top Answer By Akanksha Vishwakarma on 25 Mar 21

Ans. One of my school friends passed out from IIITDMJ last year. He has described his wonderful experience through a timeline, which is depicted below. Year 2016-17 This was the most unforgettable year of his 4-year journey. Although they were excited to join the college there was fear of being ragged by seniors. However interaction with the seniors turned out to be fun and helpful later. As the first semester started, the fear of Lamba sir (Mathematics for Continuous Domain) was engulfing the whole batch. But they didn’t stop enjoying every moment and some of them posed themselves as seniors and started to rag their own batch-mates on phones.  Also, he still remembers the day when India won the world cup and they piled up all the chairs inside the mess. Year 2017-18 This year their hostel was shifted to TFRI campus. Counter-strike fever gripped almost the entire batch. Every Friday night the whole mess used to be hijacked for this purpose after dinner. Every morning they used to rush to catch the college buses from TFRI to GEC.  Sharing a small hostel room (1 bathroom) with 2 other guys became difficult. This year was not that fun because all of them were exhausted with this hectic schedule Year 2018-19 They were shifted back to their own campus, happy and mesmerized by the beauty of surrounding flora and fauna. However, they faced problems with water, electricity and other basic necessities. The sixth semester was special because they were going to host Tarang'18. Through their combined hard work, they were able to put up a grand show with Jal performing at their campus, the first time in Central India. Year 2019-20 As the Final Year approached, they all were worried about placements and so was my friend, as CSE representative. His days used to pass by getting contact numbers of Company HR, talking to them. By the end of December all CSE was placed (majority in Infosys). Early morning cricket matches started and my friend along with many other CSE guys started to bunk Machine Learning classes taken by Manish Sir. After having so much fun, finally, the day arrived when they started to pack their bags and start a new journey. They gave a farewell to themselves. It all depends on how you socialize with people and make the best out of every moment of your journey.Read more

Remarks :

Figuring out the best institute for higher studies can be quite a hectic task, but instead on focussing on institute, my criteria was to prioritise the branch. At the time, I felt ECE to be better than ME, as I was not hoping for a decent college for CSE. So, after that I got into this college. This college has it's own perks too, like, it is an institute of national Importance and a premiere engineering college among the top 100 engineering institutes as per NIRF. Electronics and communications engineering is a department that is worth opting when you don't see hopeful options in Computer Science. Being passionate about coding, I chose this branch as it was closest to CSE in many ways.

Admission :

I got admission in this college through AIEEE 2008. I chose ECE branch because I had interest in developing electrical circuits and wanted to know more about VLSI technology. In 2008 the counseling process was very stringent and was not flexible. My AIR was around 12000 in AIEEE and in counseling not many good options were left by the time my turn came to select the preference list. Moreover I was fascinated by the IIIT tag but after joining the college found it to be totally a myth.

Remarks :

This is a pathetic and most bogus college of the country and the Government should reconsider its decision to call it a IIIT and a Deemed university. Some if the faculty members may even mentally harass you if you do not satisfy their filthy ego.

Admission :

For getting admission in this college, everyone must qualify Jee Main examination which was conducted by CBSE at my time but in these it is conducted by NTA. After the result of Jee Main, I participated in the counselling conducted by JoSAA. Counselling process was online where student have to select institutes/colleges by keeping their priorities in their mind. I opted this course because it was my dream since childhood to be a software engineer. The reason I choose this institute because this was the best college where I can get CSE on the rank secured by me. In the counselling I got this college after that I took admission in this college.

Remarks :

Till 2019, there was not a permanent director so at that time institute slowed its curve of progress but when new director came the institute has caught its speed.
