A male fox is called a "dog fox" or "tod", while a female fox is called a "vixen". Both male and female foxes belong to the Canidae family, which also includes wolves, jackals, and domestic dogs.
Dog fox (male):

- They have a slender body, narrow muzzle, and a more pointed forehead compared to dog foxes.
- Vixens are highly vocal, making a variety of sounds such as barks, screams, and whines.
- They play a key role in raising the kits (young foxes) and are responsible for providing food and protection.
- Vixens are more social than dog foxes and can form family groups, but they can also be solitary at times.
In general, foxes are known for their intelligence, agility, and adaptability. They are omnivores and feed on a wide range of food, including small mammals, birds, insects, and fruit. Both dog foxes and vixens have distinctive coats, with reddish-brown fur and white underbelly, and black legs and tail tips.
