KMAT 2018 Preparation Tips

KMAT is conducted for MBA and MCA admissions in top most colleges in the Karnataka State. There are 4 sections in KMAT 2018- Verbal Ability & Reasoning Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, and General Awareness. There are a total of 120 questions that are to be completed in 120 minutes. As there is no negative marking, candidates have a better chance to attempt maximum number of questions. Before starting preparation for KMAT 2018, candidates should go through the KMAT 2018 Exam Pattern. If you are preparing for any entrance exam, focus and practice is a must. All the aspiring candidates of KMAT must ensure that the entire syllabus is fully covered during preparation. An earnest practice of sample papers, mock tests and so on should be done. Time management and practice are of great significance when preparing for the KMAT 2018. There is no time bound for any section.


Here we are providing you some of the preparation tips that would help you in preparing well for KMAT 2018-

Speed & Accuracy: Man makes a practice perfect. Candidates should do die-hard practice to hone the speed and accuracy. Doing regular practice enhances the time management skills. Consistency should be maintained for the best results. Try recalling common cube roots, square roots, percentage fractions as it helps to maintain the accuracy.

Time Management: Don’t just jump over the solution before reading and understanding the question. Candidate should read each question delicately before running for the solution. Firstly answer the questions that are easy to get the solution and are less time consuming. Make your strategy and accuracy to that level that you can re-examine the paper before the final submission.

Be Confident: Being nervous drops the preparation level to zero. So, during exam time, try to be calm, focused and confident and watch all your hard work get paid.

General Awareness: Be aware of the latest events running around in all the fields such as in business, current affair, politics and so more. Reading newspapers, magazines and listening news daily is good habit and it also helps in nurturing the level of general awareness.

Regular Practice: Whether it is quant or logical reasoning or verbal or else it is GA, regular practice is must. It helps the aspiring candidates to identify the weak and strong areas. Practicing on a regular basis makes the tricky topics as simple as cakewalk. So, spend quality time in practice.

Mock Tests: Give mock tests as much as you can. Giving mock tests helps in getting aware with the paper pattern. Solving previous years’ papers also helps in realizing the weaknesses and strengths. It gives a confidence to perform better in the exam.

Work Hard on Weaknesses- Firstly identify the areas of improvement by giving the mock tests. Write it down and rectify the mistakes by not repeating them again in any way. Polish your strengths and don’t read anything new during approaching weeks of exam.

Self-made Notes- Whatever the section is, don’t forget to prepare notes. Self-made notes helps in memorizing the formulae, short tricks, concepts during the last moment preparation. Prepare the notes and place them in front of your eyes so that you can revise whenever you see them.

Read Extensively: More you read, more you excel in reading comprehension. Regular reading can achieve you more marks. Practice unseen passages as this will improve your speed in answering the questions. It will also help you in expanding your vocabulary knowledge.

Given below are the preparation tips for each section that are very helpful for the preparation of KMAT 2018-

  • Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (40 questions)- Grammar plays an important role. No one can learn all the grammar rules in one time. Splitting paragraphs into small paras comes in a very helpful manner. Splitting helps in collecting the information and vocabulary.
  • Quantitative Ability (40 questions)- To perform better in any section, a look on syllabus makes the battle easy. This section tests the goodness level with the numbers. For the good practice, candidates must focus on the quality material not the quantity material. Practicing previous years’ question papers, sample papers and other study materials really helps.
  • Logical Reasoning (20 questions)- To solve any problem related to LR, candidates should have good mathematical skills and apply them step by step to draw a unique conclusion from given statements. But keep one thing straight that whatever conclusion you have drawn should satisfy all the preordered statements.
  • General Awareness (20 questions)- Questions in this section cover the topics related to GK and current affairs. This section can be much scoring, to prepare well this section, reading magazines & newspapers, watch news channels can be a good feed.

Avanish Says, “Prefer Good Books”

Avanish Kumar appeared for KMAT in 2010. He had a percentile score of 94.8. He says, more practice more bright is his rule of excel. He preferred, practicing sample papers helps in getting familiar with the entrance exam. He thanked his classes for contributing best in his practice and says don’t follow the books having quantity but follow the books having quality material.
