In Electrophilic Methylation, an electrophile is the source of the methyl group. Some examples of electrophilic methylating agents are dimethyl sulphate, iodomethane, dimethyl carbonate, and diazomethane. Methylation proceeds through a SN2 reaction in Electrophilic Methylation.
