- Footprints Without Feet, a story by Herbert George Wells, is about an intelligent scientist, Griffin, who invented a drug that could make a man invisible.
- Griffin experimented the drug on himself and made himself invisible. He was seen by two boys who chased his footprints until they faded altogether.
- Griffin was ejected from his house by his landlord. He sought vendetta and set the house on fire.
- As he wandered the streets, he felt cold and entered a shopping centre to warm himself. After the store was closed, he took some warm clothes and ate cold meat and espresso from a restaurant.
- Later in the day, some associates approached him and he immediately removed his clothing and became invisible again.
- As he felt the cold biting him, he rushed to a theatre shop and wrapped bandages around his forehead, put on a false nose, dark glasses, bushy whiskers and a giant hat.
- Then, he robbed the shopkeeper’s money and decided to move to the Iping village, to avoid the large crowd.
- He rented a hotel room and immediately the strangers around him got surprised by his appearance.
- Meanwhile, Griffin’s money was eventually exhausted and he was bound to steal again.
- Mrs Hall, the wife of the landlord, gradually became suspicious of him and checked his room with her husband while he was away.
- Angry and agitated, Griffin tossed the furniture of the room at them. The owner began thinking it was because the room was possessed by spirits, accusing Griffin to cause the chaos.
- Mrs Hall asked Mr Jaffers, the town constable, to arrest the strange man. Upon reaching, Griffin disclosed his identity by removing all his clothing. Seeing this, everyone was instantly shocked as Griffin escaped.
