NEET MDS 2021 Counselling was expected to start in the month of April 2021 but due to rise in COVID cases the counselling process might get delayed by 4-5 months. The counselling will be conducted online and to participate in counselling process you have to register online at the official website of MCC and pay the registration fees. NBE has released NEET MDS Result of 2021 session on Dec 31, 2020. 

NEET MDS counselling is conducted in two rounds for AIQ seats and if seats still remain vacant then the final Mop-up round will be conducted. If seats still remain vacant then these sears will be transferred to the state quota.

Admissions Through NEET MDS Counselling 2021

NEET MDS Counselling 2021 will be held for admissions of the following:

  • All India 50% Quota Seats – Counselling for all India reserved category candidates will be conducted by Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) of Directorate General of Health Services, Government of India, which is solely based on the NEET MDS Result.
  • State Quota Seats  Reservation of NEET MDS seats in states of India will be taken care by designated Counselling authority of the respective States/Union Territories. They will be responsible for conducting counselling sessions for under State Quota based on results of NEET MDS. The counselling committee will consider eligibility criteria, applicable regulations, guidelines and applicable reservation policies while allocating seats under this category.
  • Admission to Private Dental Colleges, Institutes, Universities, Deemed Universities  Seats for NEET MDS 2021 will be allotted to candidates under this category via counselling sessions conducted by the designated counselling authority of these Private Colleges/Institutes/Universities/ Deemed Universities on the basis of NEET MDS scores. Applicable Regulations, eligibility criteria, reservation policy, etc. will also be adhered to while allotting seats.
  • Admission to Armed Forces Medical Service Institutions – Counselling for admissions to Armed Forces Medical Service Institution is conducted by The Army Dental Corps, Ministry of Defense, Government of India based on NEET-MDS

NEET MDS Counselling Steps

NEET MDS Counselling 2021 Procedure

The counselling will be conducted separately for each category. The procedure for counselling is as follows:

Step 1: Registration

  • Register on the website of the counselling authority.
  • The links and necessary information will be provided on the NBE website
  • Enter the relevant details like NEET MDS Registration Number, Name, Date of Birth, Gender, etc for completing NEET MDS Registration 
  • Candidates will be issued a new username and password

Step 2: Filling the Counselling Form

  • Login in using the credentials to select the college of their choice
  • Candidates can select the preferred college of choice from the list of available choices
  • Once satisfied, candidates will have to lock their selection
  • Candidates can make multiple edits before submission. Once submitted, candidates will not be able to make any changes after locking
  • If candidates do not lock their selections, then the selected college will be allotted to them
  • The board / designated authority will review the applications and allot the seats based on the merit list
  • An allotment letter will be sent to the candidate via email and post
  • Once the seat is allotted, candidates will have to attend NEET MDS Counselling at the scheduled time and venue for document verification

Step 3: Payment of Fees

  • Candidates can pay the admission fees and block the seat allotted to them. 
  • Here the registration fees that you will pay during the time of filling the online form for counselling will be non-refundable.

NEET MDS Counselling Round 2

  • NEET MDS 2021 counselling round 2 will be conducted after the conclusion of the round 1 counselling. 
  • The eligibility criteria for appearing n round 2 different and is set by the authority. 
  • If a candidate is not satisfied with the seat or college allotted to him and wishes to upgrade the same then such candidates can fill fresh choices in round two choice filling.
  • However, if a candidate does not wish to upgrade his seat which is allotted to him in Round 1 and there is not to apply for round 2 counselling. Such candidates will be required to confirm their seats and complete the admission process.  

NEET MDS Counselling Mop-Up Round

  • The last round i.e. Mop Up round of coauneslling will only be conducted if seats are left vacant after the completion of round 2 counselling.

NEET MDS 2021 Selection Procedure

If candidate belongs to general category, 50% is the minimum qualifying score whereas for OBC/SC/ST, candidates have to score 40% marks in order be at par in the selection criteria as per NBE. The NEET MDS counselling Procedure is elaborated below which shall be applicable for allotment of 50% AIQ MDS seats:

  1. Main online Counseling Registration
  2. Exercising of Choices, Indicative Seat and Locking
  3. Process of Seat Allotment (Round 1)
  4. Result Publication (Round 1)
  5. Reporting at the allotted Medical/Dental College against 1st Round
  6. Process of Seat Allotment -Round 2

  8. Reporting at the allotted Medical / Dental Colleges against Round 2
  9. Transfer of NEET MDS vacant seats to State Quota

List of documents required at NEET MDS Counselling 2021

All the qualified candidates are required to carry the following original documents:

  • NEET MDS 2021 scorecard
  • NEET MDS 2021 Admit Card
  • Mark sheet of BDS 1st, 2nd and 3rd year examinations
  • Qualifying examination certificate, that is, BDS Degree Certificate
  • Permanent or provisional certificate provided by DCI/Dental Council
  • Internship completion certificate issued from the Head of the Institution
  • 10th standard certificate as proof of birth
  • Valid Government Identity proofs (Driving License/ PAN Card/Voter ID/Passport or Aadhar Card)
  • Physically handicap medical certificate, if required.
  • SC/ST/OBC certificate, if required

NEET MDS 2021 Seat Allotment

  • Based on NEET MDS result the merit list is prepared.
  • Candidates fill preferences based on seats available.
  • NEET MDS Seat Allotment result is published in the form of a list including the name, allotted college, All India Rank, Remarks, and candidate category.
  • Selected students will be required to download the allotment letter of NEET MDS 2021. 
  • It is mandatory to carry the allotment letter along with the list of documents at the allotted institute to complete the admission process.

Ques: When will NEET MDS 2021 counselling be conducted?

Ans: NEET MDS counselling 2021 will be conducted online and candidates have to register online to participate in the counselling process. The counselling is expected to start in the month of June/ July 2021. 

Ques: What documents are required to participate in counselling?

Ans: All the qualified candidates are required to carry the following original documents:

  • NEET MDS 2021 scorecard
  • NEET MDS 2021 Admit Card
  • 10th standard certificate as proof of birth

Ques: Is NEET MDS 2021 counselling fee refundable?

Ans: There are two types of fees in NEET MDS counselling:

Non-refundable: Non-refundable registration fee during the time of submission of choices need to be paid. 

Refundable: A part of the tuition fee that needs to be paid during the time of seat allocation. 

Ques: Can I fill more than one choices in the counselling form?

Ans: Yes. There is no limit and candidates can fill as many choices in the order of their preference. 

Ques. What will be the venue for NEET MDS 2021 counselling?

Ans. NEET MDS counselling 2021 will be conducted online. Candidates who want to participate in the counselling of NEET MDS 2021 will have to register on the official website of MCC to attend it.

Ques. I forgot to lock my choices for the counselling. Will I get a seat?

Ans. If you have filled in the choices and saved them, they will be considered during the seat allotment process. However, if you haven’t filled in the choices, you will have to wait till the next round of NEET MDS counselling 2021.

Ques. How many choices can I fill during the counselling?

Ans. There is no limit on the number of choices that a candidate can fill during the counselling of NEET MDS 2021. These choices, however, should be in the order of preference as desired by the candidate.

If you have qualified the exam, the you need to apply to the concerned State Medical Directorate / Counselling Authority(s) of States / UT / Private Universities / Medical colleges/institutes for counselling. You can participate in the NEET MDS Counselling for State quota seats and/or seats in Private Universities / Colleges / Institutes, according to eligibility and other factors.

Hi Praveen, this depends on the college in which you are applying for admission as the cut off marks vary as per the college/university. However, considering your rank, you have decent chances of getting admission in desired department.

Hi Apoorva, students who belong to reserved category will be given admission on the basis of NEET score only. Thus, your 50% quota category rank will matter.
