NEET MDS Counselling 2020 (Resumed) Seat Allottment, Selection, Procedure

    NEET MDS 2020 Counselling Round-2 will begin from June 03 to June 09, 2020. The result will be announced on June 12, 2020. NEET MDS 2020 Counselling started from March 12, 2020 to till March 23, 2020. National Board of Examinations (NBE) will conduct the counselling as the NEET MDS 2020 Result has been declared on Januay 15, 2020. The date and venue of counselling will be updated online at the official website of NBE. The Directorate General of Health Services will be in-charge of conducting the NEET MDS 2020 Counselling on behalf of the Medical Counselling Committee.

    • NEET MDS 2020 Result for first-round seat allotment released on April 11, 2020.
    • NEET MDS Counselling will be conducted in two rounds for MDS-AIQ aspirants.
    • If an applicant is unable to get admission in the first session due to low marks in NEET MDS, he can attend the second session if desired.
    • Candidates whose name will be listed in the released merit list will only be eligible to participate in NEET MDS Counselling. 
    • At an All India Level, 50% seats are reserved for candidates who belong to SC/ST/OBC/PH.
    • Candidates will get admissions to Private Dental Colleges, Institutes, Universities, Deemed Universities and Armed Forces Medical Service Institutions.

    Admission through Counselling

    Admissions Through NEET MDS Counselling 2020

    NEET MDS Counselling 2020 will be held for admissions of the following:

    1. All India 50% Quota Seats

    Counselling for all India reserved category candidates will be conducted by Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) of Directorate General of Health Services, Government of India, which is solely based on the NEET MDS Result.

    1. State Quota Seats

    Reservation of NEET MDS seats in states of India will be taken care by designated Counselling authority of the respective States/Union Territories. They will be responsible for conducting counselling sessions for under State Quota based on results of NEET MDS. The counselling committee will consider eligibility criteria, applicable regulations, guidelines and applicable reservation policies while allocating seats under this category.

    1. Admission to Private Dental Colleges, Institutes, Universities, Deemed Universities

    Seats for NEET MDS 2020 will be allotted to candidates under this category via counselling sessions conducted by the designated counselling authority of these Private Colleges/Institutes/Universities/ Deemed Universities on the basis of NEET MDS scores. Applicable Regulations, eligibility criteria, reservation policy, etc. will also be adhered to while allotting seats.

    1. Admission to Armed Forces Medical Service Institutions:

    Counselling for admissions to Armed Forces Medical Service Institution is conducted by The Army Dental Corps, Ministry of Defense, Government of India based on NEET-MDS

    NEET MDS Counselling 2020 Procedure

    The counselling will be conducted separately for each category. The procedure for counselling is as follows:

    • Register on the website of the counselling authority. The links and necessary information will be provided on the NBE website
    • Enter the relevant details like NEET MDS Registration Number, Name, Date of Birth, Gender, etc for completing NEET MDS Registration 
    • Candidates will be issued a new username and password
    • Login in using the credentials to select the college of their choice
    • Candidates can select the preferred college of choice from the list of available choices
    • Once satisfied, candidates will have to lock their selection
    • Candidates can make multiple edits before submission. Once submitted, candidates will not be able to make any changes after locking
    • If candidates do not lock their selections, then the selected college will be allotted to them
    • The board / designated authority will review the applications and allot the seats based on the merit list
    • An allotment letter will be sent to the candidate via email and post
    • Once the seat is allotted, candidates will have to attend NEET MDS Counselling at the scheduled time and venue for document verification
    • Candidates can pay the admission fees and block the seat allotted to them

    The NEET MDS counselling procedure includes registration, exercising choices, indicative seats, locking of choices, process of seat allotment, result publication and reporting to the medical college allotted for admission. According to National Board of Examinations (NBE), which is the examination conducting authority, only those applicants can participate in the counselling session who have scored All India Rank on the basis of qualifying marks.

    If candidate belongs to general category, 50% is the minimum qualifying score whereas for OBC/SC/ST, candidates have to score 40% marks in order be at par in the selection criteria as per NBE. The NEET MDS counselling Procedure is elaborated below which shall be applicable for allotment of 50% AIQ MDS seats:

    1. Main online Counseling Registration
    2. Exercising of Choices, Indicative Seat and Locking
    3. Process of Seat Allotment (Round 1)
    4. Result Publication (Round 1)
    5. Reporting at the allotted Medical/Dental College against 1st Round
    6. Process of Seat Allotment -Round 2
    7. Result Publication (Round 2)
    8. Reporting at the allotted Medical / Dental Colleges against Round 2
    9. Transfer of NEET MDS vacant seats to State Quota

    List of documents required at NEET MDS Counselling 2020

    All the qualified candidates are required to carry the following original documents:

    • NEET MDS 2020 scorecard
    • NEET MDS 2020 Admit Card
    • Mark sheet of BDS 1st, 2nd and 3rd year examinations
    • Qualifying examination certificate, that is, BDS Degree Certificate
    • Permanent or provisional certificate provided by DCI/Dental Council
    • Internship completion certificate issued from the Head of the Institution
    • 10th standard certificate as proof of birth
    • Valid Government Identity proofs (Driving License/ PAN Card/Voter ID/Passport or Aadhar Card)
    • Physically handicap medical certificate, if required.
    • SC/ST/OBC certificate, if required

    Hi Praveen, this depends on the college in which you are applying for admission as the cut off marks vary as per the college/university. However, considering your rank, you have decent chances of getting admission in desired department.

    Hi Apoorva, students who belong to reserved category will be given admission on the basis of NEET score only. Thus, your 50% quota category rank will matter.
