In a solar eclipse, the Moon completely or partially blocks the view of the Sun from a small area on Earth when it passes between the Earth and the Sun.
- Although the moon is much smaller in size than the sun, it appears to be completely blocking the sun during a solar eclipse.

The three types of solar eclipses are
