Entrance Preview

I wrote COMED-K exam which is an exam for both students of Karnataka and students from other states of India. I'm from Kerala, so I'm studying here under management quota. So the scores didn't matter. And I paid donation to get admitted. The reason why i opted this college was because of my brother. There is no other special reason.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

This college is under Visvesvaraya Technological University, which has a wide range of departments. I'm studying COMPUTER SCIENCE, which is bit easy under this university. First year papers are common for all branches, which include almost all subjects which we had studied in our +1 and +2. The second year subjects for CSE consists of computer and electronics related papers. Third year on every paper is purely based on Computer Science. Since I have just wrote my 5th sem exams, I can't explain much about the upcoming semesters. But, as far as I know, there will be elective in 6th sem on. And our college provides Operational Research and Programming Language as the main options, and I have elected OR as my elective.

Internships Opportunities

Many companies come for taking students.1) GOOGLE2) WIPRO3) TECH MAHINDRA4) COMMVAULT5) IBM6) INFOSYS etc etc.I'm not sure about the stipend provided by the companies under internship. All I know is that they take students for internship and give accommodation and all. Hope they are giving good amount as stipend.

College Events

2

IMPLUSE, a technical event conducted by CS department. Oxy-Tech, a technical event conducted by MCA department. Both of these events are Inter-College events. But, under the name of technical they conduct few cultural rounds too. Both Impulse and Oxy-tech are full fledged events, like they are celebrated in a very good way. Chief guests selected will be some VIP from Karnataka. Apart from these we have a Intra-College fest, which is named MILANA,also celebrated as college annual day. Management provides fund for all these events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For the students who are studying under government quota, it is very cheap. And those who are from government plus management, it is still feasible. But those are under management, it is very high, unless they are not able to afford. Management students have to pay 1.42 lakhs per year, which is very high, because of this many have taken loan.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, they provide scholarship for the students of Karnataka and regarding loan they provide that for everyone via their personal bank.

Campus Life

2.5

The campus life is super. But we don't have a proper ground for playing.Apart from this, lab is very good. The facilities are great. They conduct workshops.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The hostel and mess food is a big deal. The hostel is not that maintained properly as I've heard from the students who stay in college hostel. The food is not that good too. They could improve all these, at least because of the fact that they are taking high fees.

Alumni/Alumna

There is no alumni group on any department of the college and they don't prefer to celebrate anything like that. But we students do communicate with the seniors(passed out students) via social media. And the best part we have anti-ragging community.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is never hectic. They provide us enough time to prepare well. Internals and Externals are well planned and arranged so that each and every student feels comfortable.

Faculty

4

The faculties are really good. The have good knowledge in what they are teaching. They can answer almost all doubts in the class and if they are not able to, they will go home find the answer and tell us the next day. That is they make sure that the student understands everything and no one is left unsatisfied. Also, they help us in extra curricular and activities. Faculties behave friendly too. They understand which student is capable of what and if anyone needs extra attention, they help those students by taking remedial classes.

From your 7th semester you become eligible to get placed and it is mandatory to get internship before you get placed which the college helps you to get and around 400-500 companies visit, and a good amount of offers are made by them. The average package stands somewhere around 11LPA -12LPA and the highest goes to 50LPA-60LPA and the median stands around 9-10LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.
