Remarks

I had applied for some other colleges too before taking admission in PGDAV college, but I didn't like some of their infrastructures while some had a high cut-off list. I am pursuing B.A. (Hons) in Political Science. Admission was on the merit-based list and being from the general category, I needed a minimum of 91% which is a little higher than other reserved categories. This college also provides 1% relaxation to girls from all the quotas. The admission process was easy. All I had to do was fill out a form of the course we want to take admission in. There were different admission departments for all the courses. There were also some counselors to clear our doubts and problems. Everything went easy.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose political sciences Hons. as PGDAV College is the 3rd best college having the best political science faculties. In a class, there are up to 85 students and around 15 to 20 teachers. Most of them have done P.h.D in their course. Their tracking method is best. They are neither too strict nor too lenient towards the students. Besides helping in studies, they also solve and give advice on other college-related problems too. In a year, two-semester exams are held which is not hard to pass, all thanks to our teachers and their teaching methods. Besides this, teachers also give us assignments on a regular basis to enhance our knowledge and learning and take internal assessments.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees of this college are affordable. People with any quota get satisfactory relaxation in their fees. General category student's fees are also not much. The maximum fee of the course is 14k which decreases annually. Campus placements are also good. From time to time, many famous Companies come here for an internship. They provide a good stipend and also extend internships after observing the performances of the students.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is good. College holds annual fest Aaghaz in which they call a celebrity to entertain us. Besides that, every course department of the college also holds their own fest once a year in which there are many games, competitions, selfie zone, and etc. These fests are conducted between the months of January and April. The library is also spacious and ventilated. In library, there are plenty of books and journals related to every course. They also publish the annual magazine 'ankur'. Classrooms are also spacious and ventilated. Desks are of fine wood and very comfortable. There are 5 fans in every room. There are many sports including cricket, volleyball, football, badminton, etc on the campus and a large area for it. The campus has various societies with different interests like 'Raaga' for singers, 'Spunk' for western dance, 'Qaafiya' for writers, and many more which is organized by students. Students also operate accounts on Instagram.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Being brutally honest I don't think that the course contributes a lot to our preparation for the real world but it teaches us very new things which I like. The course might not be very helpful in our real life preparation or the preparation for the real world but at the same time it enhances our knowledge and teachers as about various new things so I am satisfied with my course and whatever the curriculum includes I like it

In term of relevance I'll say that there are many topics which should not be taught as they are way too old and contradicting in modern times. New tumes problems and solutions should be taught in replace focusing on present.

Placement Experience:

Final year students are generally placed with an average package of 7-8 lakhs for management programs. Companies including the big 4 like EY, KPMG, Deloitte and other reputed companies have visited and many offers have been made. Around 60% of the students get placed in management branch. After getting the degree, I am also planning to appear in the placement opportunities.
