Remarks

I applied for Master's of Art majors in English at Amity University, Noida under AIESR. The admission process is simple and fair. Fill in the form available on the website with all the background details along with a minimal amount of fees. I applied to the University of Delhi but couldn't clear it. The minimum marks required is 50% in graduation and 70% in English class 12. After submitting the form you will receive a brochure and a novel as a token from the university. Post that upon selection of the form you receive an email for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview round. For this round, you will be called to the campus. It may take your entire day. Initially, you will be given a written aptitude test. Upon completion, you will be called for GD & a personal interview with the faculty of the department where they ask you a few questions in relevance to your course. Reasons for opting for it and past research work. Post the completion within a week you will receive an email regarding your selection.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Opting for a course is a personal choice. I took up MA as I want to pursue my PhD in partition literature. Amity provides scope for future research. The syllabus is vast but given that it was post graduation it was well justified. The faculty is a mix of good and bad. The faculty student ratio was ideal. Class 71 had one PL. Most of the faculty members were PhDs from reputed institutes. They were always available to take up doubts and help us. They guided us well with the research as well. They often opted for technology like ppts as well as open classroom discussion and traditional notes. Apart from core English literature, we were taught extra subjects that help in gaining insight. The semester system is great. You get free early than others. Amity has its own pattern. The odd semester is over my mid November and even semester by April. The checking is strict but if you follow the guidelines provided by professors and complete all the answers you will pass with flying colours.

Internships Opportunities

0.5

There were no opportunities because of the pandemic. Always keep going to Internshala for this. College and internship can be managed well. The 2021 batch didn't get to see any of this. Can't comment on this.

Placement Experience

0.5

Due to pandemic, the batch of 2020 and 2021 in English didn't get any placement companies. Cannot comment on this. Also pandemic did affect the employment opportunity for MA students. It was harsh and cant is rated.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are on the higher end but they provide quality education. You will be prepared for the campus placement and various campus placement drive do take place. The fees for the first semester is 60,000 along with a security deposit of 20,000 which is refundable. There is a fees hike with each semester. 2K - 3K for next semester followed by 1K for remaining semesters. Late fees submission is fined with Rs 50 for the first 7 days, post that Rs7500. After a month of late fees, your admission is cancelled. For a scholarship, you have to score more than 90%. They don't offer a scholarship in PG. During the pandemic university allowed students to pay fees in EMIs. The late fees fine was also abolished. Students were given aid and assistance. Pre-existing students who lost their parents in the second wave were offered free education by the university. Due to the pandemic, there was no placement drive. Few companies like Qin1 came to offer internships with a stipend of 5K.

Campus Life

4.5

Amity Youth Fest is conducted in March. The annual fest. In fest, we have so many events. Each club of Amity organizes the different event. There are fashion shows, inter college dance competitions, star night. Sangathan is an annual sports meet that happens around October where sports is celebrated. The campus is amazing. One can get lost and tired of exploring. Always go in a group. Every corner has a food truck. From subway to dominos to arcade everything is within the campus. Parking is also available. The library is the best part. Books from literature to foreign languages, business studies is available. The library is equipped with Mac Books for research and E-content. Classrooms are equipped with AC. The clubs are active but you need to be active for that. Every department has different clubs and group. English had blaze for placement club and tabir the drama society. Every day there is an event happening. For the sports enthusiast, this is your place.

Interview Experience

4.5

Yes. The GD topics were general knowledge. The aptitude test had questions from English and Maths just to check IQ level. The personal interview covered primarily family background, course background, and questions related to past readings and research. The professors were from the department and very calm. Just read basic grammar point for English and prepare maths questions. Prepare a resume for an interview. I prepared a file. Presented all my past achievements. Discussed my future research. I was well versed with my bachelor's syllabus and was able to answer all. Keep up to date with news for the general GD group. Movies or Novel what is that millennium generation want can be one of the topics. In GD always listen and respectfully disagree. Keep body posture correct and aligned.

Placement Experience:

The placement here at Sharda was too good. Students start attending the Placement interviews and calls from the last semester. I was personally made into 4 companies and 4 offer letters were offered to me. The average package is 3.8 lakhs per annum and highest was about 11 lakhs. There is 100% placement in every dept. but it depends on students if they want to attend or not. After getting the degree i studied for my PhD entrace and now i am working.

My college provide best education and hostel facility in india.Security is very good. Managment is very good.Transport facility inside the campus in now very good. Placements : The institute actually has very good placement records due to its outstanding alumni and also due to the presence of placement and training cell working day and night to indulge its students with skills and leadership. So, the placements in our college have never been a problem. Infrastructure : With almost hundred years on the calendar, our campus is luxurious from inside and filled with modern day necessities from inside. We have every resource that a student wants in his college life such as largely spaced room, Wi-Fi everywhere around the campus and many more things. So, the campus is unmatched. Faculty : The faculty members are nice, and I found them very helping and motivating. On the other hand, the course curriculum is a bit boring but essential too. A load of academics is very less compared to other IITs and hence students can do anything they want and could carry on their interest. I feel very proud to be a part of IIT BHU. Other : There are three main fests in our college, Kashiyatra, Technex and Spardha. All the fests are held at very high level. Participation from many IITs, NITs and other different colleges from many parts of India make our fests super big and exciting.
