Remarks
For the admission process, I went through the counseling conducted by JOSSA. I got the seat on the basis of JEE MAINS rank. Cut off for various courses and colleges are released every year by JOSSA. Just fill the application on the JOSSA website. Fill in your priorities and you will be given the seat based on your rank and colleges filled by you.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because of my interest in civil engineering and since this is NIT KURUKSHETRA one of the top 10 nits so it was worth choosing. The strength of my class was 80. Since it is NIT so no one can doubt on qualification of teachers. Teachers are highly experienced in their respective fields and they teach passionately. Each semester consists of 3 exams, 2 mid-semester exams, and 1 end-semester exam. If you study well you can easily score good marks.
Internships Opportunities
We have to do an internship in the 5th semester. College calls a number of companies offering good oppurtunities. Students have to go through the interview process and test to get an internship. Stipends depend on the company.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements in 7th semester. Many companies visit the campus like talking about computer branch all reputed companies like microsoft, adobe, google, flipkart, amazon etc visit every year. The highest package goes upto 40 lakh and overall median is 6 to 8 lakh. It depends on branch like for computer engineering median package is 12 lakh. In computer engeneering the percentage placed is above 90 but for rest branches scenario is different.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is nominal. The fee structure is based on income. There are 3 income categories: less than 1 lakh, between 1 to 5 lakh and greator than 5 lakh. Per semester fees is around 10000 for 1st income category, around 40000 for 2nd income category and around 80000 for 3rd income category. This includes tution fees and hostel seat rent. Apart from this, i had to pay mess bill each month which was around 2000-3000 and since i belong to 2nd income category my overall fees for the course including mess and other charges was around 5 lakh. Yes the college provide merit scholarship and various organisations have also tied up with the college to provide scholarships. I got the job of a site engineer with stipend 6 lakh per annum.
Campus Life
Every year we have 3 fests namely UTKARSH TECHSPARDHA and CONFLUENCE. CONFLUENCE and UTKARSH are cultural fests while TECHSPARDHA is a technical fest. confluence is north Indias largest fest. We have a large library consisting of about 165000 documents (as mentioned on the college website) including books, e-books, thesis, cd DVDs, etc. You dont have to purchase any books since the library gives them. Talking about classrooms we have large well-ventilated classrooms. Each of them is having AC and a smartboard. College is very active in sports and yoga. We have almost every game in our college both indoor and outdoor. Apart from the main sports complex, each hostel also has its own sports complex. There are many clubs and societies in the college almost for every field like dance, music, drama, writing, art and many more which help in improving the skills and developing new skills. Each branch has its technical society.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms are satisfactory. In the first-year single room is alloted and from the 2nd-year a single room is alloted. The rooms are really good. They are spacious, well ventilated having personal balconies. Mess food is satisfactory. The menu is decided by the mess committee which consists of students also. The hostel is alloted at the time of admission only
