Remarks

First of all, you have to give jee mains examination to appear in the JAC Chandigarh counselling. Jac Chandigarh gives admission to mainly 5 colleges. Uiet Hoshiarpur is the regional centre of uiet Chandigarh and a branch of Panjab University. All the details of the counselling process are given on the website of JAC counselling. Reservation here is based on all India quota that is no reservations. You just get relaxation in ranks here.

Course Curriculum Overview

This college is a renowned esteemed college of Panjab University and overall here faculty is world-class. The faculties provided here are top class with up to dates information also the knowledge of the teacher is great. Almost all teachers are from either engineering backgrounds or have done research in their respective subjects. Most teachers here have written several books on the subjects and all the faculties have written news time and research journals and research papers. Here in each semester, you would get 2 mid-semester tests and 1 external exam. 2 msts are worth 30 marks each and an external exam of 50 marks. Exams are easy to clear and also preparation time for exams is less

Students here are getting placed as soon as they reach the fourth year basically there is a special training and placement cell which helps in the placement of the students also it has improved the overall placement record of the campus and basically, in CSE branch almost 98% students are getting place every year and the overall campus placement record is around 85% the highest package is offered by the Josh technologies group of around 17.85 lakhs per year and the average package of CSE company is around 8 to 9 lakhs per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees here are given through the Panjab University and basically very low compared to two other engineering College worldwide also the infrastructure and facilities provided here are great enough for a student to excel in his real life you have to give two fees instalments in one semester and one examination fees every semester which is approximately around 3K. Mostly all students get hair States scholarships and other scholarships the administration staff here is very cooperative regarding this scholarships process and deals with it very efficiently also they are very helpful in providing you scholarships in basically almost all types of scholarships available here like state quota and other basically all over 25 + categories of scholarships are available here.

Campus Life

Basically, most freshers parties in farewell party conducted almost twice to thrice every semester and also and the annual fest is conducted around the month of January. Books are almost all provided in the library you want to have to purchase any book from your side whenever the semester break ends students are provided with a Google form to give recommendations list of books to be provided in the library and almost you would get an agent every book in the library and you can assure it for the all semester without any hectic of process. Basically sports infrastructure cricket ground, football ground and volleyball ground, badminton court, gym, and gymnastics is provided on the campus .all the sports meet is also conducted. Here various dance groups singing clubs acting dramas and NCC NSS debating societies are always available on campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
