The campus is good, one will definitely enjoy campus life here
Departments and Faculties are top class.
Fests are fun. Also NSS cell and other extracurricular activities

Dislikes

Academic pressure and academic calendar is somewhat mismanaged.
The administration should be more considerate about Hostel conditions
Girls hostel is situated at a very far place from campus and administration stopped providing the bus facility.

Course Curriculum Overview

Our faculty is really good and helpful. Although the the academic pressure is very high, but in the long run it'll help you ultimately. Geology Pol science and Sociology department is one of the best departments of our university.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship is provided here. Students have to visit the official website of dean of students corner to know more about scholarships. Also, there's no placement cell as such but Departments sometimes invite various companies which offera placement.

Campus Life

Yo, campus life is really fun. There are two Library in our campus which is one of the oldest library in the whole state of West Bengal. It consists many old and rare books and journals. Professors are very friendly. Sports and extra curricular are activities are promoted by the university. There also exist many clubs and groups like film club, art society, drama society etc. Also, My experience says Presidency has a really gender sensitized campus.

Hostel Facilities

Honestly speaking, hostel has many problems but student bodies are trying to solve those problems. Eden Hindu Hostel is affiliated with presidency. It is a Grade - 1 heritage building which was built in 1964. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Jagdish Bose and many famous alumnis of our University used to live in this hostel.

Hostel Fee: INR 2200 per year

Admission

I did apply for an entrance exam but due to COVID the exam was cancelled. I got admission on the basis of my 12th board result. For presidency's admission one has to visit the Presidency University official website and apply for PUMDET or PUBDET exam.

Interview Experience

I didn't face any interview or exam due to the interference of Covid. But if someone wants to take admission in presidency, he/she has to solve the previous year PUBDET or PUMDET question papers which is available on the internet

A Balanced and Enriching Academic Experience

Likes

nothing much. Everything was good overall. If only the college could guide a bit about the placement program then it could be better.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is comprehensive and relevant covering literary theory, diverse texts and critical analysis. It prepares students for research and teaching. Exams are moderately challenging and well scheduled throughout the semester.

The Pros and Cons of Joining Jadavpur University Masters of Arts in Economics

Likes

Lush green and lovely campus, gives a perfect city vibes as well as greenery around
Huge social influence, and good knowledgable people around who are ready to discuss on any intellectual topics.
Expert faculty with proper emphasis on lecture quality, delivery, etc. Every faculty has a phD in their respective field.

Dislikes

Hectic lifestyle, there is a bit of pressure on syllabus completion
Exams conducted are a bit difficult with a higher frequency on conducting
Lack of Funding for campus development and deployment of proper infrastructure.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for applying for internships after the 3rd semester, and students can apply for placements only after 4th semester. Companies like Ericsson, Ernst and Young, JPMG makes visits our department for mostly analyst roles for economic and fundamental trading decisions. The highest offer made was 45LPA while the average is 7.5LPA. The median pakage is 8LPA. Almost 90% students secure placements after completing their degree since the Training and placement cell is pretty proactive in securing good company visits. I plan for investing and analyst roles in banking companies. I would sit for placements hoping for the same.

Likes

The behavior of the college staff is very good along with the teachers.
The campus is huge, along with a lot of amenities such as AC & smart classrooms, playgrounds, library, auditorium etc.
The college provides a great learning opportunity by internship opportunities at various companies.

Dislikes

There is a reason to worry as there are a lot of thieves around that area.
The nearby places of the college are not very safe, especially for women to travel at night.
The admissions criteria of this college are very tough. A student has to be highly qualified.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I had a keen interest in this subject. The faculty was very good, including the staff members and the academic teachers as well. The teachers were highly qualified and helped a lot in their studies. The exams were held timely under the supervision of the college staff members.

Admission:

For pursuing Post graduation students never have to appear in any entrance examination. I passed my graduation from this college in the English department securing 65% of marks and hence choose this college for postgraduation as well.

Remarks:

The program of distance learning from University of Kalyani is the best Distance learning program at that I have ever come across. The distance program provides all of the facilities same as any regular program which makes it a wonderful option for all of the student who cannot afford to go to college regularly.

Remarks:

I am both positive and negative marks started with positive the factories where very good well well qualified there is no ragging the environment is eco friendly people very helpful there is no senior junior bond everyone is equal. The negative were enormous starting with the infrastructure in some places there are new buildings halls which are not even maintained and that's the biggest problem facilities are not given to student in the hostel so much carelessness is there in the routine work people are very lazy to do their working time authority is very slow to do their workrecreational activities other than academics are very less a student didn't get the time for recreational and facilities were also not there I come modern infrastructure universities should be so we have to change this things to do the university prosper in the later year in the first and foremost thing is determination a that everyone should give efforts to make our university Pride and worthful.

Amazing life of college

I don't applied for other colleges or universities. I gave PUBDET and get a chance to study in presidency. For it I don't feel any regret. In the university admission process is not so difficult. Presidency University: A hope of light but needs a lot of upgradation

1. The reason to choose Presidency University: There are mainly three reason to choose this University. Firstly, it is one of the Autonomuous university in the state. The teachers who teach the course also set the exam question paper, resulting better evaluation of the subject. Secondly, the course work is much more advance than other universities. They offer masters level courses at bachelors level. Also, since there are masters and PhD students in the department, interacting with them provides a lot of insight and practical experience about the subject. Finally, the infrasturce provided by University at afforable price is unbelivable. They provide free hostel to the needy students. And, for girls there is free shuttle service. The other colleges in the state do not provide such facility at all. 2. Other colleges: Apart from that I have applied for admission at Bethune college. But since Presidency University conducts a seprate exam at February and they usually complete the admission at the month of June and I got admitted in the counselling itself, I did not appear for counselling at Bethune college. Since I have got the best possible option at the very begining, I did not look for any other options available. 3. Application process: Presidency University do not conduct entrance test on their own, it is conducted by West Bengal Joint Board and examination is called PUBDET (for Bachelors) and PUMDET (for Masters). You have to keep an eye on the official website for any update on these exam. They usually conduct exam in the month of April or May but the application begins at January or February. The counselling would be conducted by the Joint Board. The application fee is Rs. 500 and if you are selected for counselling, you have to pay Rs. 500 to appear for the counselling.
