Course Curriculum Overview
Political science in honours is quite holistic,it covers political theory, Indian political thoughts, ancient and modern political thoughts, international relations, comparative politics, ambedkar, public administration etc. Most of these syllabus covers the significant part of UPSC syllabus. I guess Indian political thoughts can be explained a bit more effectively. We havr only one exam for each semester and It ranges from easy to moderate
Internships Opportunities
Political science don't get a good package from the campus itself but the course builds the foundation so after that we should go for masters or futher studies. Apart from that in Niti Aayog students get placed as an intern. Mostly the projects are around public policy and Administration. Most of the students do not sit for placements because a majority prepares for civil services or other compititive exams.
Placement Experience
Placement for political science is not good. You can get an internship at Nitiaayog, but that's also not an easy thing, apart from that non paid internships are available but its just for experience. From third year students are eligible to appear for campus placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The first year fee was around 15000 Second it was a bit high till 16000 And in the third year it went to 18000 Registration fees for exmas are excluded from this ,so we have to pay around 1100-1300 for that.
Campus Life
We have our annual fest as Reviere and departmental fest as Pol Purri. Other fest also happenes during festivals like Dusshera and diwali. A wide range of books and journals are available in the library and they are easily accessible. Gargi has a cricket ground, basketball court, tennis court. We have a student run social group as CDF gargi, they work for underprivileged children and specially abled children.
Admission
I applied to Hindu, Miranda House, Kirori Mal,Ramjas and then Gargi. I got Gargi my sixth ranked college because the cut off for the north campus is quite high. I chose this college because it provided me with my dream course. The admission to the college was done through CUET exam which was held in an online mode ,in this we have to apper for 4-5 papers related to the subjects that we study in class 12.
Faculty
Political science faculty is around 13-15 . Total strength of the political science department is around 500( students). I like Dr Sweta Mishra ma'am,she taught us public administration in which she nailed, she gives and associates practical examples with the concepts. Till second year there are 3 DSE ,which is compulsory to study But from 3rd year we have 4 DSE. There are only one exam in each semester
Other Applied Colleges
Hindu College | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Political Science)
The Cuet cut off was high
