Course Curriculum Overview

4

Studying Philosophy was never in my plan, but then I researched about the subject, and it turned out to be one of the most diverse course that i could pursue. If at all I want to take UPSC, i can pursue philosophy as my optional considering it has very less syllabus, or I could pursue law after this, as the moral obligations that it teaches you becomes very important in pursuing law. We have frequent tests, assessments and presentations, and i am sure it gets tougher as we keep on going.

Placement Experience

5

My college is known for its campus placement in DU. The highest package offered was around 40,00,000 to a Bcom grad. People from all the courses got placed into super blue, blue and non blue firms into diverse fields. But since DU is known for UPSC preparation, majority sit back and take UPSC. I plan to pursue law after graduation and then take UPSC.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total annual fees for general category for my course in my college is Rs20060 which was deducted from tge admission fees that we had paid prior to the college allotment process (it was around 25000 and the rest was credited again to the payer's account). There are various scholarships but are not affiliated with DU as such.

Campus Life

5

The campus is really beautiful, plus its an all girls anti-ragging apolitical college which makes the environment both social and political, an inclusive place to study at. We have two grand celebrations in collaboration with the NSS. The extra curricular although sometimes get overwhelming because of the academic pressure, but in the end it makes you a person ready to take up different challenges in life.

Admission

For me, i had always wanted to come to the college where i am in, at the moment, so it doesn't really matter. But I did apply to NMIMS as a backup because there's no harm in considering backups. I took CUET and I scored pretty decent marks, 728, to get into Philosophy.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty members are really well read, from good universities like JNU, Imperial College, BHU and many more, they're very discussion oriented, which becomes interesting when reading about controversial topics. There's a faculty- student ratio of 1:62, however there are tutorials as well wherein all the 62 students are divided into groups of 3 for clearing doubts and everything. Since the college is very competitive in a healthy manner, everyone is a topper, therefore almost everyone manages to score pretty well in tests.

Other Applied Colleges

NMIMS School of Law - [SOL] | Bachelor of Arts + Bachelor of Law [BALLB] {Hons.}

NMIMS was a backup college, like every other student, I thought having a backup college always helps, but then i got into a decent college in DU itself, so i dropped the plan of going to NMIMS.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

I wanted to do PhD in Political Science but due to percentage I took up BA program. Teachers used to provide notes but mostly I used to be off. There was nothing wrong with the college. Exam timings were good.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
