Course Curriculum Overview
I love Political Science and it is a great cource. I liked it since school days, I grew liking towards this cource from my school teacher who is a Venky and JNU almuni. This cource makes us view the world from a different perspective, we get to learn various things and we are able to connect it with today world, how state works, its past and future. It is mostly theory so you would need to go for Post Graudate, just doing Bachlors wont help much, the teaching methods could be improved by interacting more with students and the cource curriculum can be improved by adding topics which has more relevance in present scenerio. The frequence of exams is okayish, and its difficulty is moderate however the time limit makes it a little more challenging.
Placement Experience
Students from 6th semester are eligble for placements. Companies such as McKansiey and various think-tanks come for hiring. Students with professional cource and good CGPA get placemmet. Average placemnet going for 4laks and highest upto 12lakhs. I am planning for pursuing Civil Services or Post Graduation after getting my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid around 18k for 1st year, although last year it was around 14k so fee hike is there in my college. Tution fee is ?180, rest charges such as college student welfare fund, university welfare fund, development fee, DUSU fund make up. And fee is same for any category as far my knowledge. This is all the charges they take : Tution Fee (?180) College Student Welfare Fund University Student Welfare Fund University Development Fund College Development Fund University Facilities and Service Charges College Facilities and Service Charges EWS Support University Fund DUSU Fund There is fee concession available to students with less than 2lpa annual income from all sources. Also there are scholarships like National Scholarship Program, Delhi Govt SC ST welfare scholarship, Reliaince Scholarship ( merit based ). Depending upon the needs, students are given concession.
Campus Life
There are many events happen in my college such as annual fest TIDE in April, Diwali Mela Aksa few weeks from Diwali and many other events conducted by various socities, in my college you will come across an event every day. The books availability in my libraby is decent, there are multiple copies of each book and the library staff are helpful, we also have magzines, journals and daily newspaper. Our college has labs, it provides facilties such as wheelchair facility, hearing aid facility, path for blind, fee concesison and more. There are various sports and extracurricular activites offered by the college, we have cricket team, football team, badmition, volleyball, basketball, chess teams who are active. There are student run groups and clubs such as Vedanta - Hindi Debating Soceity, Gandhi Study Circle, Dhira - Spiritual Society and 20+ socities.
Admission
I applied to Hindu College for BA Political Science Hons along with this college however I couldnt make it there due to high cutoff. To get in that college my cuet score was less. If I compare to Hindu college I would say my college isnt as good as Hindu college as Hindu college has better infrasturcure, perhaps faculty, overall environment and crowd. However talking about mobility, my college is much better. I applied to this college due to proximity, NIRF ranking, and syllabus overview. To get in the these colleges you have to be a 12th passout then appear for CUET exam conducted by NTA and then fill the Delhi Univeristy CSAS portal where in phase 1 you have to fill your info, in phase 2 you have to make prefrence list and in phase 3 you get admission into the respective colleges.
Faculty
The faculty here is good, they have both knowledge and experience. And faculty student ratio is good too, in case if any cource has more students then they divide into sections so each lecture can be taken without extra burden. I liked Prof Sumit and Prof Shambhu Nath Dubey, their great knowledge has helped students a lot. However I have mixed opinion towards Prof Anamika, she is bit harsh. And we have 1 class test and assignment each semester and they arent hard.
