Course Curriculum Overview

3

The exam curriculum is easy to understand. Students have to choose 2 major subject which they will study till the graduation in each semester. I chose History and political as my major subject. Also we have to choose a minor from the above two subjects so I chose History as my minor subject. There are skill and practical based subjects that we have to study are Skill enhancement course and second is Value addition course . We can chose the different subjects regarding these courses. I think there is a need to shorten the syllabus or reduce the number of subjects in the curriculum because It's hard for students to cover 6 or 7 subjects during the exam times. We didn't get any study material regarding our syllabus so we have to search by ourselves for the same. Also there are difficieny of faculties in my college as sometimes a teacher had to teach 2 or 3 subjects which they even didn't know. Teachers are regular so they teach as per the given schedule. Our exams held in the evening shift from 2:30pm to 5:00 pm. I am comfortable with the timings because it's give me sufficient time to revise the syllabus.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am a student of 3rd year persuing bachelor of Arts(History) from Miranda House University through Non Collegiate Women Education Board. At the time of registration portal through NCWEB I paid ?100/- in which you have to registered at the site for your confirmation of addmission and have to fill a form. So I registered myself at the portal in August 2022. After that the NCWEB board issue cut-off list in 5-6 phases for various colleges. I got addmission in 1st cutoff list in Miranda house because I secured excellent marks in 12th standard and also I belonged SC category. After that the process begin I fill the main form regarding my subjects(that I want to study in graduation) and pay the amount of ?3365/- as course fee. Now from the 1st semester to till all semesters I have to pay ?1410/- per semester as examination form fee. Apart from that there is a separate fee criteria for whole year that I paid ?3702/- in 2nd year. A nominal amount of ?325/- I paid for college management expenses via online portal. There is no requirement of tution so I studied by myself. There is no difference between fee structure for the students belonged to the reserved categories because when I asked for the fee concession in college, they said no. Also there is no any scholarship or financial aid available for us.So the fee structure is same for all. Thankyou

Campus Life

2

There is no any annual and technical festival for us because we belonged NCWEB board. So my college never arranged that programme for us. There is no access of library in Miranda House for NCWEB students. They only provide it to the regular students. All the sports and extracurricular activities offered on campus is for only regular students in Miranda House. Many of our senior colleagues of the college run different groups like study help group, journey provide group and many international groups etc.

Admission

I applied for the Miranda house and I got a confirmed admission here. I choose this because it's the number one college in Delhi University to study. I was also searching for Hansraj College, Guru Gobind Singh college and Kirorimal college but from all above Miranda house is the best in overall areas like teaching, study curriculum, management purpose, facilities and environment etc. There is simply addmission process in my college. You have to fill form when the college started taking addmission. You have to select the subject you want to study till graduation with the course fee decided by the college. My overall experience was good during addmission process.

Faculty

4

I don't know the exact ratio of faculties to the students in my college but there are small numbers of faculties in my college.Till now all the faculties that I got are good in teaching skills and behaviour also. I like the Kahaniya sir who teached us history in 1st semester.I like him very much because their behaviour towards the students was so calm and decent, also their teachings tactics was very understandable. There are 7 subjects we got in 1st and 2nd year each of them comprising 7exams per semester till 4th semester. After that there are 6 subject we have to study in 3rd year. The course curriculum is short and easy to understand. There are no any student who failed in the exams because the exam level is easy to moderate to attend.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
