Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum for my course, English hons couldn't have been better. i really enjoy all that we have and how teachers cover it is incredible even the extra courses offered from different departments like very recently political science department ran a course for anyone from our college and from outside, different departments. it was an online certificate course.

Internships Opportunities

3

I haven't opted for any opportunities provided by college and not that i know of any. We have socities and cells that always have something going on for students so if they want to yes they can get good opportunities around.

Fees and Financial Aid

as a student from general category my yearly fees started with 15,000 but it has now increased to about 16,000 which is the highest among all categories as my batchmates from different categories would have different fees mostly around 13k - 14k. Apart from that we pay examination fees every semester which depends on what subjects you're opting for and if they have practicals ans lab charges etc but mostly examination fees would be 1000 - 1500.

Campus Life

4

We have the biggest library in south campus with all the relevant books in addition to that we also have a kindle section and another great section is the one with all the competitive mcq books. you're not allowed to take your own books inside nor you can bring a water bottle which is a bummer also the library does not have a washroom so you have to go all the way out of library im between. English department have 4-5 classroom to itself every classroom have a projector and one even have a big screen in it which makes it easier for presentations and movie reviews, recitations by the author themselves that iur teachers sometimes play. along with that we have game room, one too many societies, girls common room, pad vending machine in every washroom as well as in gcr. it's just is also unbearable in delhi heat to survive only on fans, only computer labs have ac facilities.

Admission

I was going to another college before starting here cause the admission process of delhi university is so long for no actual reason with so many delays it's very tiring and exhausting. i took admission in Government College for Girls, Gurugram and comparing both colleges. the fees structure- i had BA prog. in girl's college and my yearly fees was 5000 there, here I'm paying 16,000 for BA hons. facilities- girl's college was closer to bus stop and it also had hostel facilities but still the location was disappointing and other basic facilities like washroom, drinking water was substandard that it was difficult to survive. the faculty- the faculty there felt like i was in school. the admission process- it was pretty straightforward in girl's college but here for ram lal anand, delhi university i went through a long tiring process even so that i had to take admission in the previous college just because i was scared that I'm getting no where.

Faculty

5

Hands down. THE BEST FACULTY POSSIBLE (english dept only) though it has started going down the slope as the new faculty members are not up to the mark as the old ones that i as a final year student has witnessed. the faculty helps you in every way possible and over the time I've grown very close to them and they're very approachable BUT BUT BUT our principal sucks he always tries to submiss students voices especially if they're not very conventional (right wing) and I've heard pretty bad instances where he had dismissed an application against a teacher from different department (history department). the girls tried to complaint because he was making them uncomfortable. We only have semester examination which are very very very easy. rarely people get logbacks in these examinations purely because of the leniency in checking. I'm satisfied with the overall curriculum.

Night Life

3

In south campus only we have hundrends of café's and hangout spots. sarojini nagar is just 3 stations away and the location is just right cause there is always students around. Mostly students live in satya niketan which is like the closest place and since there is no hostel facilities. the hygiene here is sub standard but you can have meals for cheap. One thing that i dislike is that there is also a liquor shop here which makes girls a bit unsafe to go out alone at night and there is always fights and all.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
