Course Curriculum Overview

3

I choose this course as I have a great interest in history from class 6th The curriculum is not that much relevant , it was much of leftward mindset The timings of exams are quite less, compared to their difficulty level

Internships Opportunities

4

I don't know much about internship as I am from history course . So not much sure about the internship opportunities but students are free to do internship as college also give some relaxation in attendance to those who are doing internships

Fees and Financial Aid

My college is Hansraj college( DU) The yearly tution fees of my course (BA hons. History) is Rs. 26985 Beside this , the examination form fees charge according to the paper we are opted for Like for practical exams there is additional rs. 200 is charged There are various scholarships provided by the delhi university . But in Hansraj college there is one scholarship which is merit cum need based scholarship in which selected students got around 25%, 50% or even 100% consession in college fee

Campus Life

5

The overall campus life is so good . The annual fest of my college is 'CONFLUENCE' which held in April - may There is also an another event name NSS mela which held just before diwali . One can easily access books and journals in the library with their college ID card. The classrooms are fully furnished , both the digital and blackboard are present , air conditioned. There are many student run societies which help in many students to grow their personality , and the NSS team teach students , go on food drive , organize various workshops in slum areas regarding cleanliness etc

Admission

I chose this college as it is one of the best college of DU and also according to my CUET score I got only this college . Hansraj college is one of the best college of DU it lies in North campus and due to its alumni it hold different kind of legacy . If I didn't get admission in this or any other college of DU , I have to continue my undergraduate on from my hometown's private college . The admission process is quite simple - we have to give CUET exam - then register yourself in CSAS portal of DU - According to our CUET score we have to make a preference list of various colleges and courses of DU - then whichever college is alloted to you , if you are happy with it college verifies your documents and if there is not any discrepancy than just pay the fee of the college and your admission is done. Note - all this process is online

Faculty

4

In my course the faculty- student ratio is 1:100 The faculties are so supportive and friendly in nature I like our core subject teacher Mr. Kundan kumar because of his friendly nature . I did not like Mr. Yogender dayma sir because of his left mindset There are seven exams at all , they are quite moderate if you are prepared, from last 2-3 years no one in history department get fail .

Night Life

4

The whole north campus is full of various hangout spots , sudama tea stall, tom uncle's maggi , students after getting tired of the classes , go for a walk to unwind themselves . And all these place are safe as there were all students . Gym , cafeteria, library closing off timing is 6PM . The hostel timing is 11PM . The famous hangout places in my college are ' ' 'lovers point' LP area , cafeteria

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

I wanted to do PhD in Political Science but due to percentage I took up BA program. Teachers used to provide notes but mostly I used to be off. There was nothing wrong with the college. Exam timings were good.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
