Likes
- We (Ramjas College)has the biggest College campus in whole Delhi University.
- We have a very experienced (more than 30 years of experience) faculty members in our college and they are also very friendly which creates a very comfortable atmosphere in the college.
- We have a good to moderate infrastructure. I am satisfied with the infrastructure because it is better than many other DU college.
Dislikes
- The food in the canteen is not so good but it is cheap.
- The political culture of Ramjas as it creates a lot of disturbance during election.
- There are not many things to be disliked about Ramjas so I can't recall any more.
Course Curriculum Overview
The inclusion of papers like the Skill enhancement course, Value additional course, Ability enhance course are good initiative to provide skilled education to the students. But what I can see is that students don't take these subjects so seriously and just try to pass them. So according to me they are not bringing any major change which was expected. Might be this the initial period thats why students are not adapted to this and maybe the situation changes after a few years.
Fees and Financial Aid
The Ist year fee of BA (hona) History is Rs 15498 (For Gen/SC/ ST /OBC/CW/EWS/KM) and for Physically disabled (PWD) students is Rs 125. 2nd year fee for the same course is Rs 14743 and for PWD students it is Rs 120. 2nd and 3rd year fee is equal. Students can apply for scholarship as well. As many of my batches get scholarship but I don't know much about it.
Campus Life
The name of the Annual fest of Ramjas College is MOSAIC. It is usually organised in the month of March and April. We have a good collection of books In the Library, one can access the books by making a Library card first. We have projector In some of the classes rooms but not in all. Ramjas has a huge play ground , badminton court, vollyball court, basketball court and a gym as well which is free for the students. We have chess clubs and many other sports teams .
Admission
In my DU preferences list Ramjas was on 4th. Hindu college, St. Stephens and Kirorimal college were my top 3 preference. But due to little high cutoff of these colleges I couldn't make it to these colleges. The eligibility for getting into any of the DU college is that you'll have to appear in CUET exam and have to select specific subject in CUET exam according to the course that you want in DU colleges. And to get into the North campus of Delhi University a student of General category should have at least 760+ score in CUET
Faculty
There are about 14 faculty members in our departure (History Department) and about 300+ students (including 1st, 2nd and 3rd year). Faculty members are very experienced and friendly. And always ready to help either it is related to accademic help of any other career related confusions. All the faculty members of our departure are very good at teaching and very approachable. To name few Dr. Monika Saxena, Dr. Prashant Arway, Dr.Vikas Verma, Dr. Uma Shankar, Dr.Ranjana Das, Dr.Aditya Sharma and many more. In every semester one has to appear in about 7 exams (According to NEP curriculum). The level of difficult is moderate to difficult. Very few students fail in any of their exams.
Interview Experience
No I didn't face any group discussion or interview but I apprared for an Exam (CUET) to take admission in this college. And this exam is compulsory to take admission in any colleges of Delhi University.
Night Life
We have a very famous spot which is near the amphitheatre where students usually hangout with there friends in the college. Students can go for a walk to VC lawn in the evening time or even during day times. There we have beautiful gardens. The college closes after 8PM which is basically the time when the college library closes. A famous hangout place for North campus students id near Sudama ki Chai , Tom Uncle Maggie point and many other places in Kamla Nagar and Vijaya nagar.
Other Applied Colleges
Banaras Hindu University - [BHU] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Political Science)
I didn't opted for this college because I got admission in Ramjas College, University of Delhi which was a better college and could provide me better exposure than BHU. Also Ramjas has a very reputed History Department.
