Course Curriculum Overview
Chemistry has various sub fields. Students gets knowledge about the minute molecules as well as the overall impact of chemicals in the environment. Its very interesting. It requires a lot of mug-learning. If a student likes chemistry in school, he/she is likely to love it during graduation as the subject gets more and more deep. The basics remain the same. Every semester has internal exams followed by end of semester (main) exams. The difficulty level depends upon the students. I personally managed studies alonside a dance society (as a member, later the Vice-President) I had less time to prepare for the exams. 1-2 weeks to prepare for internal exams and 1 month for main semester exam was enough time for me.
Internships Opportunities
A lot of companies offer internships during internship programs organised annually by the college You are allowed to fill a form with your interests and then can apply to any company. Dress code- formals. The company may interview for sometime then will send you details about their requirements if selected.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fees for Chemistry is 10,000-12,000. Additionally students will be asked to pay 1,200 per semester (6 semesters in 3 years) as examination fees. There is an option for fee waiver for students belonging to Socially and economically backwards groups. A form needs to be filled and submitted to the Admin block by students to be considered under the scheme. Annually fees needs to be paid online. The examination fees can be paid both online and offline. Deadline needs to be followed by the students. Beyond which ypu might not be allowed to sit in the exams. For students living in hostels, additional charges will be applied like mess food, living cost etc. preference for hostels will be given to students who belong to different states. (Domicile will be required and its on first come first serve basis)
Campus Life
Nexus is the cultural fest of Venky. It is one of the best fests organised by DU colleges. Various events like folk dance, western dance, classical music, classical dance, DJ night, Nukar natak, Celebrity/Star night etc. is organised over a span of 3 days. Day and night fun! Students from FAA (the fine arts society) play a huge role in organising the event and making it joyful for everyone. The food is a bit expensive in stalls but with friends one can contribute and share. Classrooms are a mix of spacious and small. Cricket academy is organised every weekend. Cricketers like Ashish Nehra and Rishab Pant can be seen practising sometimes during weekends! Society life is fun and a must! It shapes your personality. Students learn to face challenges on their owm and win prizes by participating in societies that match their interests- dance, music, chemical society, dramatics etc.
Admission
I applied to a lot of colleges in the North Campus- Miranda college, Hansraj college, Daulat Ram college, Ramjus college and some in South campus- ARSD, Maitreyi college. I liked the teachers a lot in Venkateswara college. They wwre extremly sweet during the admission process. Even the students were very helpful. The green and clean campus attracted my sight. I couldn't make it to the ECA list of any other college in the North campus. I couldve waited for their list in the next round but i was way too much impressed by the staff in Venky. So i chose this over any other North campus colleges- which btw where very far away from where i live.
Faculty
Faculty is extremely helpful. Students get exposure to the best of teachers every semester. There is a mix of subject teachers and laboratory teachers. Even the lab staff is helpful and supportive. Every semester has different subjects. As one moves ahead, the course gets tough with more exams. 1 &2 semester- 4 subjects 3,4,5,6 semester- 6 subjects (GE additional- students can choose their own GE subject to be compulsory in first 2 years)
Night Life
Satya niketan- best food, cafes, PG's for both boys and girls Other colleges around- ARSD, motilal college etc. Parks and greenery around Best commute- pink line metro station (walking distance) I haven't explored the college during night time (not a PG student)
