Course Curriculum Overview

4

Although not offering a direct placement opportunity ,History Hons as a course was although good , it taught me what I wasn't Taught at a school level ,the lot of historical debates and arguments amongst authors and not just accepting blindly any fact , It opened up my further interest about the Subject.it was not as a subject which was in your class 10th ,12th .

Internships Opportunities

1

Being very very honest there were no such placement for History students neither any good internships offered in the college, The placement cell just worked well for Bcom students , Economics course students and not of any use to Arts subject students. For extra curricular social help you can enroll in NSS , but that too doesn't give you any future job , internship or anything ,just good feeling working for the poor .

Fees and Financial Aid

I have passed my Bachelor from Daulat Ram College of Delhi University, year 2021-2024 and paid Rs13080 in the first year of my graduation. In the second year I paid 14050 and In the Third year I paid 14050 , however now the fee structure has changed and it has doubled, because my juniors have paid rs 30500 for the same Course of BA hons.History in their first year . The fees includes admission fee, tution fees , development charges etc in it. 1000 rs Amount is refundable which you receive once your graduation is over . The fees of Other courses was almost similar for arts subjects like political science, hindi , english hons etc , but the fees for science subject like botany , Physics was around 20,000 earlier and nearly 35000 now ,for one year . Talking about scholarships , there are no college based scholarships provided, they tell us to fill the forms on NSP portal , only some students get the chance to fill up the college fee Concession form ,those who have annual income less than 4lacs per annum , and out of those too students are filtered on priority basis and income basis and At the end only few students get an concession of Around 2000-3000 not more than that .There are no concessions on basis of Merit . The fees is quite expensive when compared with other colleges of Delhi University, And the facilities and Fees paid ratio is completely Imbalanced ,the fees charged is too high while the facilities offered are not that up to date .

Campus Life

4

Location in North campus is a boon for students who are fond of attending fests. my college had mainly 2 huge fests while some other Cultural activities going on for a longer time of the year . The fests are mainly held in month of November and February, some of them also conduct them in April to May .The library facilities although good for reading but very poor in terms of borrowing books , Sports was okayish and not too good most of the times it was available for only NCC cadets and we could barely enjoy playing in the ground .Debating Groups , other societies functioned really well .

Admission

I got admission in Laxmibai College of Delhi University in the first round of councelling, but in the second round I changed it to Daulat Ram College, the main reasons for it were , Laxmibai College was a Off campus college and It was really at a much more distance from my hometown ,also the NIRF ratings of Daulat Ram College were higher than this . Being one of the main colleges of North Famous Daulat Ram College gave me the exposure of Campys life , the different varieties of students coming from Different regions ,also the teaching faculty of Daulat Ram was heard to be better than Laxmibai . I got Kalindi College too in my list but It was also A off campus college, off campus colleges although being very good at infrastructure and Facilities still lack the campus vibes and feels like cutoff from the University, also for any examination and administration work at a major level ,you need to come to North campus and get the issue resolved. So this College offered a close proximity to main administration for easy work excess .The admission process for every DU college is same ,when I took admission it was on merit basis on the basis of marks of Class 12th ,but later on it shifted to Entrance test Like CUET , the entry through merit was less time consuming,as compared to entry through entrance test ,also entrance test has limited the students choice to opt any other subject other than subjects opted in class 12th The cutoffs were high during merit basis .Overall admission committees work well and smoothly at UG level and you don't face any technical issues from College side .

Faculty

4

The faculty for my Course Ba hons History was extremely good , I think they taught things really simplified...the only reason my college life seemed a bit fruitful was that my teachers were really hardworking and tried to inculcate the same in us .Menka ma'am taught both World History and the Indian history in the third semester , she taught really well...Deepak Sir who used to teach us China And Japan Was a wonderful teacher creating interest in These histories so well .. the entire credit goes to him ...Pravash Sir I would really like to add on his efforts in solving one to one student query, especially giving future guidance.Talking about the syllabus, the curriculum was well built , It was neither too hectic nor too easy ,the examination were easy and mostly Questions were repeated from PYQ'S,but the marking scheme was really strict ,they never gave us more than 8 CGPA.. it was easy to pass but not that easy to score above 7 CGPA

Night Life

3

Night life was fun ,though I would not lie and say it was completely safe ,it was average, with a okayish level of Safety ,the hostel area was good while the gym was not at all available to all , the washrooms were not that good ,it was just kaam chalau, the entire area is good as it offers good hangouts places at Patel chest etc .

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
