Avg student experience at NITk

Basically I am choosing this branch( mining) because of college I am not interested in doing mining engineering there is an option called minor in any subject and the college curriculum is too good that I can do my programming work with full efficiency. That's why I am choosing mining.by the way mining branch have also good placement status with avg package 12 lpa and highest 30 lpa . Exam is too frequent that after 20 days of quiz-1 we have Mid-sem.One thing I hate they told that 6 month for one semester but the completed it in 4 month.Our course starts at 2 september and end at 7 december

There are many companies like microsoft and amazon which giving internship to students of NITk as we know banglore is situated in Karnataka which is known as tech hub for India and NITk is one of the nearest top college from Bangalore so almost all tech companies are visiting our college for internship as well placement and giving a good amount of stipend based on students skills as I already mentioned one of our senior getting 1 lakh stipend at amazon he may get PPO because he said he's doing work with full of his efforts and our college has one intresting thing that many students got PPO at top companies.

If student have some programing knowledge already from 1st yr then he can get internship in 1st yr itself it may be paid or unpaid depends on skills student have usually internship start from 3rd yr one of our senior get 1lakh internship at amazon for 1month . For campus placement students must have CGPA more than 7.5 otherwise he is not eligible for campus placement. All big companies are visiting our college like Amazon, Google, flipkart,adob, microsoft,mahindra ,hdfc,bank of america, kotak, bajaj india, etc All times it happens that highest package goes to tech companies last year the highest package is 54 lpa and the avg package is 20 lpa for whole college it vary with branch like mining branch highest package was 30 lpa and avg package was 12 lpa . On an average 85 to 90 % student get placed who are registered for the placement. It also vary with branch like It - 99% placement Cse-98% Mining -90% etc.. After getting degree 1st I tried to placed through campus placement after that I am improving myself and finding of campus placement as I am from core branch so college didn't focused more on core branch to placed in it sector that's why only 20% of it company which visiting the college allowed to sit the core branch in placement with cgpa criteria..

The annual fee of NITk surathkal for all students is based on their income certificate.means how was the financial condition of students. It will be devided into three categories:- 1. less than 1lakh annual income:- get 100% tution fee remission. 2.between 1to 5 lakh annual income:- get 2/3rd tution fee remission. 3. More than 5 lakh annual income :- will not get any remission in tution fee. Total fees for 1st sem:- 1lakh 30 thousand which have to paying all the students other than sc,st, and pwd . In which they will refund 62000 for tution fee after 1st year ( it is for those who have annual income less than 1lakh) In total fee hostel fees is around 35000 . Tution fee is 62500. And. Institute admission fee-1280 Development fee-2560 Security deposit ( refundable)- 6390 Nitk alma mater endowment contribution -3000 Convocation fee-3150 Library resources fee-2560 Carrier development fee-2100 Health care facility -1580 Student activities fee-6300 Campus amenities -1580 Group insurance -510 Computing resources fee-3360 Hostel rent -8400 Mess- 25000 For sc,st and pwd students fees for 1st sem is 78000 .I don't know about how it is distributed for sc,st..

The main fest at nitk is engi24 which is held on after mid sem budget of this fest is around 150cr our senior said about it.and other fest are also there like "incident" is 2nd big fest at nitk Our library is too good infrastructure and made in very large area and around 1lakh 26thousand books are there . For 1st year students there is a special building in our college called 'cids' in which all 1st yr student class will be helded and all classes have projector with a large board and fans are there. And 24/7 light are there. As I already told we have a large sport complex in which many games are there and also we have a large ground in which football as well cricket matches are playing by students.We have one basketball court,one volleyball court, 4 badminton nets are there in which around 16 people plays simultaneously. Our college have 4 Gym in which one is central which is very large two is for senior boys and other for senior girls.1st yr students can joined central gym for their fitness.in 2024 there is a national level Swimming pool at nitk . Our college inogreate inter nit competition in which all 32 nits students are participating in all types of games and wining the prices and this inter nit competition is very famous and usefull for athelete students.. There is a student name kirtan proposed his startup named advista which is getting an offer of 4cr from investor and many other examples are there for startup this is because of Fbsc and E-cell like clubs...

Inside room for 1st yr student two types of hostels are there one is triple sharing other is double sharing. :- Aravali,Karavali , Vindhya is triple sharing and sahyadri is double sharing. And all room has bed made of iron and steel and table for all person almirah set into wall with lock system for all students and wire wi-fi connection for laptop and wireless for phones and there is book shalf also for all students and two steel pipe set into wall for drying the clothes are there. Two tubelights are there and two fans are their and infront of every table and chair one charging cable is there. And one shoes shalf is there . Meal quality is good not too expensive neither too wierd u can eat for living there is two types of mess one is vegitarian other is non-vegetarian. Non-vegetarian mess have chicken in three nights and egg in two nights and vegetables one night and daal,chaval , dahi, rasam , sambhar, chapati (two types - one fried,other normal) is also there at night.. And yeah at the last of the month we have a grand dinner in which three types of chicken is provided,pulaw ,and lachha paratha ,is there and one sweet and one icecream and one fruit (apple) is there.we all waited for grand dinner in very exciting way... And we have dosa , idli ,rasam , bread milk and tea , butter, boiled moong, etc in breakfast in which bread,milk,tea butter is compulsory and other is vary with day by day .. Regitration for hostel is done at reporting time they give us option that u are vegetarian or non vegetarian then alloted mess and hostel to us no money transfer process are occurring at the time of reporting all are already done by institute before reporting if u didn't done the u may get issue in allotment of mess or hostel.. I didn't have more idea about room or pg outside but around college there is no such a houses are there which proving room may be you have to going 4 to 5 km away from college or 20 km away in Mangalore which may cause time killing and money wastealso

I applied for iit's, Nit's and iit hyderabad and I didn't get any btech degree in any iit because my advance rank is too High 9000 in obc so I set to go in nit k surathkal or cse branch in tier 2 college like nit Patna which is my home state . So I arranged the sequence of college in such a way that either I getting tier 2 cse or tier 1 only Trichy or surathkal lower branch.I got mining in 1st round of jossa and it will look like freeze till fifth round. I didn't participating into csab due to some financial issues other wise I am getting nit Trichy production which is my friend also get in csab with almost same rank 34000 crl . I only apply through jossa and not any other councelling so I didn't get rejected in any other councelling. Admission process:- As same as all Nit's 1st I accept my seat which is allotted by jossa so I pay 35000 for seat acceptance fee then after completing all round I have to pay 45000 to nit k to confirm seat then they nitk faculty provide me a website called iris which is developed by an nitk student and I pay all other fee at that website like hostel and mess and admission fee etc ... Then the give us feedback receipt and reporting date for perticular branches. Before reporting student have to fill a form in which many documents are required like marksheet of 10th,12th income,residency, category allotment letter etc.. At the time of reporting u have to all these original documents with minimum 2 photo copy and after all procedures they give hostel and mess allotment letter which u have sent mess manager and hostel warden . Cutoff for joining nitk is very different for home state and other states. For other states u have to atleast 35000 crl (obc) And for home state if u have 90000 and above then u can also joined it.. For all Btech courses u have to qualify jee mains and yeah u have to 75% in ur pcm in class 12th..

There are 14 section for 1st year students. Around 1000 students are there in 1st year they are devided as S1,S2 to S14. In which each section has around 70-80 students are there. So student teacher ratio is around 80:01. As I already told teachers are very helpful for us specially when the class is start because no one knows more about the subject.Some times it is happened that teachers go more deeply in a concept mainly in physics which may lead to going to bounce for students ????. For me our physics faculty "Ajit Km sir"which is also HOD of physics department is best this is because I am more interested in physics from 9th. And he (phy sir) teaching us with in-depth knowledge like special theory of relativity and quantum mechanics.i remember he is connecting differential equation to machine which is used to measure heart function.. :-There is no such teachers that I deslike them after all they have more knowledge then me that's why they are teaching us ... And yeah I am not satisfied with ece teacher the reason behind it is he is directly writing content from his note. Which is important but it creates some confusion because some time he wrote wrong things on board means other than our syllabus. :- There are 4 exams for 1 semester:- quiz-1, Mid-sem, quiz -2, End-sem Quiz 1 has 10 % ,weightage, midsem -30%, quiz 2-15%, End-sem 30 to 40% .. weightage may be vary depending upon professors and their is also some surprise Quizzes which is not compulsory but our physics faculty conducted one surprise Quiz. This year many students fail in maths exam in my section 12 students failed.. But there is a twist if u failed in final exam after concluding all persentage then u have a chance after End-sem to pass the exam of u didn't clear that last chance then u get back in that subject. And there is no student in our section who failed in that means in our section no student get back... For 1st yr all students have to read all subjects like we are from core and learning python.

As I mentioned 1st yr student having block timing but for 3rd and 4th yr don't so for them boys gym will have 11pm clossing time and for central gym 8 pm was the clossing time and 5 am was the opening time .some cafe are closed earlier but some are open till 12 pm like we have Nescafe and Amul as famous cafe which is open till 12 pm. There is to library one is central other is small central library of earlier at 8pm but the 2nd one is open whole night . There is no such area which have time restriction other than outside of college and forest side of college. For 1st year students timing vart from 7 to 9 pm if there is no program or events .if any event is there then the block timing increased for those students who participated in event for practising. Campus timing is 7 pm for all students either 1st yr or 4 th yr. Inside college their is mainly cafe for hangout and the place behind main building is too good and outside college beach is on of the good choice other u can go manglore.
