Exploring the spirit of Bhaskaracharya college of applied sciences : A students' perspective.

• The first thing that influenced me was the core concepts of Chemistry and my inclination towards this subject since class 11th and other things that influenced me were the development of laboratory, research and analytical skills that I could learn during this course and also the application of chemistry in daily life . • This course prepares you very well for real world applications as We are taught industrial chemistry since the semester 2 and We perform the experiments as well in the laboratories . The course also helps us to gain the basic knowledge about Chemistry which is the building block to study chemistry further. • It should include more industry relevant topics , should have more research opportunities, interdisciplinary integration, soft skills development , should have topics that include environment and social relevance. There should be some changes in teaching methods including practical oriented learning , active learning techniques, technology integration , industry exposure and better mentorship programs . • The frequency and timings of exams are well structured and I don't think there is a need of any change in that.

• the yearly fees was 15k including examination fees . • tuition fees - 11k , registration fees - 500 , admission fees - 25k , all other fees - 4k per year which includes development fees , lab fees and other compulsory charges. • All the batchmates had the same fees structure like me but there was some relaxation in fees for students who were economically weak. • A friend of mine availed the scholarship of ?50 k from the University as he scored great in class 12.

• The annual festival named SRIJAN is held every year and various artists are invited in it. In 2020, famous comedian bassi was invited. It is usually held in the month of December . Along with that , there are various other festivals which the college organizes on different occasions eg. Deepotsav before diwali and many other events as well. • Almost every book that a student wants is available in the library and the library staff is also very cooperative. • every class has a white board and projector which allows the teachers to teach via presentation and it makes learning more fun . • There is a sports room in the campus and It has all the sports equipments . They also renew the old and obstinate items with new ones and If we ask them about anything related to any sport or any information then they are very easy to approach and they take our query and try to resolve it with their complete potential. The College also organizes sports day every year in which students with great sports' skills can showcase it and College provides them all the opportunities required. • Delhi university has a rich and diverse culture of students- run social groups that play a significant role in shaping campus life , activism and student engagement . These groups contribute to various aspects of university life, from academic and cultural pursuits to social welfare and political activism. Here are some student-run initiatives - 1) delhi University Union ( DUSU ) - it advocates for students' rights. 2) Cultural Clubs - NSS ( national service scheme ), debating societies, music and dance societies. These clubs foster a creative environment for students, helping them grow their artistic and social skills while encouraging a sense of community and teamwork. 3) Social welfare clubs 4) Political student bodies- ABVP , NSUI , AISA 5) Online student portals - DU beat , DU college times - these platforms helps the students to stay informed about University affairs and upcoming events.

• I applied to swami shraddhanand college as well but I chose this college because of several factors including reputation of the college , curriculum and research opportunities as this college ( bhaskaracharya college of applied sciences dwarka ) is totally based on subjects of science. • No, i didn't get rejection from other colleges . I didn't make it there because I found this one a better option. • The college is affiliated to delhi university so It takes the percentage of marks you get in class 12 into consideration . If you get the marks they set for cutoff then you can get into this college . The cut-off fluctuates every year and it lies above 90% and along with marks you should have the necessary documents they ask for.

• The faculty to teacher ratio was 6:1 . The faculty to teacher relationship was amicable and we could discuss anything with them but not all the time . There was a specific time for it . • I really liked my mentor mr. Lalit sir and the reason behind my liking him was his attitude towards us and his always helping nature and his profound knowledge in his subject i.e organic chemistry. I also like the lab staff including ramesh sir as he never denied us the access to equipments to perform experiments and even He helped us to neglect as much mistakes as we could . Other than them, all the staff was very cooperative and had their distinct qualities. • I didn't like the physical chemistry staff i.e Shailja ma'am and bholey sir as they both were quite strict and they focussed more on theoretical knowledge instead of practical approach . • We had 4 core subjects including one additional subject every semester and there were 6 semesters during the complete course so 30 exams were conducted during the course. They were moderate to difficult . Almost all my batchmates cleared but a few of them had failed in particular subjects but they all cleared it in next attempt given.

• there are well managed and clean gym , cafe and public areas in the college . The gym has old equipments but all are in usable state . There is one cafeteria and It offers limited but tasty food items to students and they Maintain the hygiene as well which is like a cherry on the cake . The ground area right in front of entrance is very magnificent and students spend their free time there . • There is no hostel facility in the college but they provide the pgs ( paying guest service ) nearby college. • cafeteria and the ground area are the only good places to hangout inside the college but outside, there are various cafes and hangout places . According to me , the locality outside the college is not Totally safe at night but during the daytime , it is completely safe for everyone.
