Course Curriculum Overview

3

I'm pursuing a Under graduate degree with the course Ba program political science so basically this course covers many key areas in our political arena like international relations, public administration, Foreign policy,etc..and also explains by balancing both theoretical and contemporary foundations,. First of all me choosing this course in Du was because Delhi university is a very renowned central university in India. And this course's syllabus offers me foundation for competitive exams like UPSC.and opens door to various career paths like political analysis, journalism, civil services etc. For improvements in the curriculum I think more guest lecturers should be invited from policymakers, and more internships opportunities, reasearch facilities etc. The exam difficultly level is according to the paper of each sem.like if it's international relations based paper it will be difficult but if it public administration then the difficulty level is comparatively less. So basically this curriculum helps in gaining knowledge about global affairs,policy-making, governance.

Fees and Financial Aid

As a student of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedhkar College from University of Delhi .Our college estimates it's fee structure for the academic session by calculating various heads like : Tuition fees, university student welfare fund, college students welfare fund, university development fund, College development fund, university facilities and service charges, college facilities and service charges, economic weaker section support university fund. Calculating all this different courses have different fees: BA Hons Geography-14220,BA Hons Social work-16000,BA program-13810,Bcom Program -13700,Bcom Hons-14810,BA applied Psychology - 15810,BA Hons Economics- 27000.... The Tution fees varies according to each courses This is the fee structure of us 2nd year students each year it increases 100/- to 200/- rupees. The General category should pay the exact amount. The SC/St and OBC have fee concessions and scholarships available from University and college. The available scholarships are: Dr.VKRV Rao Endowment Book Grant for 1st and 3rd year students. Fee concessions for students whose annual income is below 15000 called Economic Backward class Concession. Post Matric Scholarship for students from minority communities like muslims,Sikhs etc

Campus Life

2

The annual and technical festivals are actually held during starting of semsters mostly during the winter time in delhi like January , February..our Fest includes cultural programs, innovative ideas and programs by each of our college's clubs and its name is chetna in the start and end name accordingly changes each year. Our library have 2 floors basically and we gets to collect most of the books ..there is a wide range of books and journals which are separated accordingly in sections, like one for English,Maths, political science, Economics, etc The classrooms are mostly in a bad condition because it have the infrastructure but no maintenance. Sports like basketball are given importance and competitions are held in our college and other colleges but no importance for other sports activities.Dance andNCC programs are also conducted in our college

Admission

Actually this college was on the 22 nd position in my college preference list. But when I was excited about getting into Delhi university , I preferred most of the colleges with my course but wasn't aware of the best colleges sadly.so according to my Cuet score and because of my bad preference list I got into Dr Bhim Rao Ambedhkar College. For getting the admission .we must appear for the Cuet entrance for central universities and should apply for each central universitie's college's .after we get into a certain college we must go to their site and should pay the fees and should upload needed important documents then we will be notified about our classes and admission varification. I was sad knowing I got into a Naac B+ grade college but eventually understood it's we are who studying and what all the colleges under Delhi university gets are a single certificate about delhi university and our course not mentioning our college.

Faculty

2

There are a lot of faculty members under each course and are around 80- 90 . The faculties are sometimes rude according to their age and always prioritize their other works while we students are ignored most of the time . So for me I don't think our college faculty members in overall aren't an approachable people's. I had my Vac subject from Geography Department their faculty was very interactive , knowledgeable and friendly to me and also the Psychology Department faculty was also very good . I didn't liked the faculty of BBE department and Bcom Department they were very rude to us when we approached them for a relevant information. The exam pattern is like . At first they conducts internals and practicals for each sem's second last month after for each sem the final exams are conducted...we gets a lot of leave in between each exams. For the 1st semester the sem exams are conducted during Dec to Jan months .. likewise for 3 rd and 5th semester For the 2 nd semester the sem exams are conducted during May to June months ...likewise for 4th and 6th semester. We also gets holidays for 1 month after each May to June months exams

Night Life

1

Actually we have no nightlife in our campus.we don't even have hostel.students like me from outside Delhi are staying pg's or flats rented in nearest places of college.Actually our hangout place inside the college is our college groud where we all sits and gossips, outside the college it's a chai tapri in college's backside. The locality is not at all safe to roam around as it's delhi????

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
