Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum was good. Could have included more practical stuff. I was happy when I chose the course and pretty satisfied when I completed it. However, I'd say just the course doesn't prepare you for the industry.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees was less so no body bothered much about scholarships and infact I doubt if any were present. For the first year that started during covid, fee was approx 7500/- but for 2nd and 3rd year it was brought up to 12500. Other than this, readings (the study material)was to be purchased ourselves. And there was an examination fee every semester.

Campus Life

3

There is no hostel. But the infrastructure compared of DU college is quite good. There is a 2 floor library with good seating space. Classrooms are good and well ventilated, mess saw 3 tender changes in 2 years but all of them were fairly okay. Nevertheless, maximum people are seen eating stuff at PK Momos right outside the college gate. Medical Facilities are not that great. Once a classmate had seizures but we couldn't fetch good help from clg medical staff. About sports, the state and national level sports girls actually rock.. they have their training sessions, tournament and everything else.

Admission

I did not apply any other colleges. It was purely delhi university where I wanted to get in and fortunately I got it too but off campus did hurt initially. Now given there is Cuet for many centre and state universities, one has to prepare for it. I'd still say you should not just look at the govt tag, choose the place where quality of education and learning is good, no matter govt or private.

Faculty

4

As for the econ department, the faculty is quite approchable at lakshmibai. There are some amazing professors and obviously some who prove to be troublesome cases and if you a pick a fight with them, it'll go on for the entire semester. Looking at the good side, one of my professors was not just an amazing teacher but a great mentor and friend and I reach out to him for guidance even today

Night Life

1

Gym exists but is not functional. Library is good but everything closes after 5. It is loacted in purely residential area so can't even expect any night life. Infact nothing actually happens after dusk. There are some momos wale where girls stop to eat and Mr. Crust and Sandoz are the nearest spots around 500-700 mtrs away

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
