Amazing years In NITK

After 4years of B.tech for sure NITK will always give us with a wonderful memories and packages. This is the best college for any young people to study. The atmosphere over here is really amazing. We just can't leave the beach and this place. There are no Negatives which is really going to matter us.

It's actually pretty well. NITK follows credential system. We are suppose to get 175+ credits in 8semesters. Each sem on an average we can take up to 22-26 credits. In first year we can't opt for elective courses. This system doesn't pressurize the student. We can do 2 mini projects and 1 Major project as a part of curriculum.

Yes, they do provide internship. In the very beginning of 3rd year(5th semester) most of the companies comes for placement purposes and they also recruit people for summer internsip for the next year. It will be mostly either 6 months or 3months. Such companies provide us with stipend. It always depends on the company how much do they provide as stipend but on an average 10-20k per month. Some companies might provide us with Pre-Placement offer too.

NITK has the best overall placement percentage among other NITs. Almost 90% people will get placed in top companies. The highest package is around 40Lakhs. On an avergae 15Lakhs. In Electrical and Electronics engineering Department most people are getting placed in top companies like General Electrical, Siemens, Scheider electricals and etc. Average package will be 10Lakhs per annum

There are two major fest in NITK. In odd sem, we have Engineer a tech fest where various people from different place will come and display their projects and even there will be alot of tech games like robo fights and etc. It will be conducted for 3-4days during the month of october. On the final day there will be a impressive DJ night which no one should ever miss. In even sem, We have the best and second largest fest in India which is Incident, a cultural fest. It will be conducted for 3-4days. Every day we will have various cultural activities. They do conduct slam dunk during evening and after 8pm every day there will be a next level comedy nights, Fashion show, Musical night(some famous Indian artist will be performing) and the big DJ night. Every night events will be there till 2 or 3am. Alot of People from outside the college also will be attending.

For a JOSAA based student it will cost around 62.5 thousands per semester as tution fee and for mess and hostel fee it will come around 30thousands per semester. Almost 8-9Lakhs for completing a B.tech course.

NITK offers alot of scholarships and loans from both central and state government. For people who have income less than a lakh per annum can study without tution fee. We have to submit Annual income certificate to claim this. For loans we can get offers from SBI and canara bank with less interest.

There are alot of technical and non technical clubs in NITK. Technical clubs are IEEE, ISTE, ACM, IE, IET, BAJA racing, NITK Racing, Flying and robotics club etc. Non-technical clubs are music club, Dance club, Literature and debate society, Astronomy club, Film club and etc. There us huge swimming pool inside the campus and two sports complex. Gyms are there in both boys and girls hostels.

There are eight hostel blocks and three mega towers for boys. In first year we have to stay in 3-sharing room. For second years either 2 or single sharing rooms are available. For third and final year we can stay in Mega towers. These mega towers have only single rooms and it's like an apartment. There 8 mess in boys hostel. There are many shops inside the boys hostel area such as Nandhini, Nescafe, Fresh and honest and Amul. In future CCD might be available.

NITK Alumni network is active network. Recently 1980s batch had a reunion in the college and they all attained a pretty good place in carrier and they were helpful for us. The current seniors will be the people who will really help you alot in college life. They all are always friendly in nature.

NITK follows continuous evaluation. In a semester, We will be having a Mid-sem examination for 20-25% (sometimes 40%)which covers almost 50% of the syllabus. Before this Mid-sem we will have a quiz 1 which will be around 10-15%. The final exam Endsem will be for 40-60% and it covers full syllabus for the subject. We will have some class tests, surpise quiz, projects and assignments also with overall of 10-20%. The final grades will be evaluated with relative grading system. Minimum of 4gpa(DD) is for passing. Mostly it will be around 20% for passing a subject.

I wrote JEE mains exam and I got pretty enough marks to get a EEE seat in NITK. And in board exams we are supposed to score more than 75%.We can claim Home state quota (If you wrote 12th board exams in Karnataka). Right now JEE counselling procedures are modified. Now, they consider percentile and closing ranks are varying

The faculties are really good. They do have much experience. Some professors do have more than 25years experience. They also have much contacts with most companies and foreign colleges which will be useful for us because they can refer us for internship purposes. NITK EEE Department professors are not very strict about attendence. So that gives us much more time to learn extra courses on our own like Machine learning and etc.
