Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course political science honours in Delhi University is a well designed course which also helps us to understand real life situations and how to face and understand them the core subjects of our course are very well designed and the teaching methods depend on the professor but our faculty member in Indraprastha college for women are knowledgeable so we do not usually have problem with the faculty member except some . I personally have a problem with the introduction of new subjects because of new education policy 2020 like vac sec aec as these subjects over burden students and sometimes teachers also do not take interest in teaching them I feel like it is a total wastage of time even though it was introduced for a good cause the execution of these subjects is not giving justice to the cause . In Delhi University we have exam twice a year with moderate difficulty level. The maximum marks of the exam and the questions depend upon the course and the subject in political science we get total 10 questions in which we have to attempt 5 questions each questions of 18 marks and the total exam is of 90 marks. And in mid semester we get assignments and internal test

Fees and Financial Aid

fees (yearly) in delhi University vary according to your course and college. For example some colleges can have lower fees for the same course and some might have higher . In Indraprastha College of womens ,DU , we pay ?29125 yearly for our course BA (hons) political science. There are also schemes of fee concession for students whose parents earn less than 8 lakhs annually, they are given the special benefit of fee concession on the basis of their attendance in college and their parents annual income. College also provides few scholarship exams for students whose parents earn less. For entering any college in delhi University, everyone is required to give CUET which is a competitive exam and after that you get any college or your course based on your merit in the exam. Fees usually increases every year but still it's considered far less than private universities

Campus Life

2

My college Indraprastha college for women usually conduct various event throughout the year and seminars and every college in Delhi University conducts annual fest once a year during the month of February and March. The name of our fest is Shruti and different colleges have different names for their annual fest. the infrastructure of my college is pretty well designed we have a great library with a lot of resources and the technology in the classrooms like the smart class is also good but I personally feel the societies of my college are not very active as we do not get the information on time and sports complex is also under construction for a long period of time now so not many people can use our sports complex for playing. I think the societies in our college could be more active we should conduct more events quiz debates and competitions in order to engage students in a more lively manner

Admission

Admission in Delhi University is through an exam known as CUET, and the students get the college according to their score and the cut off of their scores and college. Cutoffs can be different for different categories like different for general OBC SC ST EWS PWD. After the giving the exam students get to decide the preference of their desired college according to their course as for me indraprastha college for womens Delhi University was my 7th preference because it is a good college in North campus above this I had put many good colleges of North campus like the Hindu KMC Ramjas lsr DRC Miranda House and one south campus college venkateshwar . I choose these colleges above my current college because these colleges have a great reputation and educational benefits but according to my score which was 740/ 800 and me being a general I get Indraprastha college for women. The eligibility of cuet examination is passing your 12th board. Of course the admission experience is new to the students and at the same time it is filled with mixed emotion like nervousness for the exam and excitement for the college life but over all admission experience was good and it depends upon the score of the student as if the student gets his or her desired college then it's good for them

Faculty

Our interaction with the faculty is mainly in classes when they come to teach us and in tute classes Because of the large strength of the class it's difficult to interact with the teacher directly in the lecture class but it's fairly possible in tute classes when there are less students compared to lecture class. My favourite faculty members on the basis of my experience are Mr Praveen sir , he teaches us IR (core subject) and swati pal ma'am, she teaches as macpa ( core subject) they both are excellent teachers and clears our concept nicely, I'm personally not very fond of lian ma'am and monika nandi ma'am they both taught me last semester and did not help much with our studies as lian ma'am always came late and did not teach anything, i would like to clarify that i don't have any hate or vengeance for them it's just that as a teacher they should have been true to their profession by teacher Us but they did not As for exams, we have 2 semesters in 1 year so we have exams twice a year , which is theory based , we get in total 10 questions and we have to attempt 5 of them in 3 hrs , no. Of questions and time depends upon the course as well and we get internal test as welll of 12 marks Internal assessment holds a significant part of our marks

Night Life

3

The locality around the North campus of Delhi University is filled with students and is comparatively safer than the other areas of Delhi the area is very nice with a lot of good places to eat some of them are very famous among the students like Sudama chai , Tom uncle Maggi, nagori tea, and many cafes like crypto door and more . The nightlife around the campus is usually safe and peaceful. I do not live in hostel but as I have heard from my classmates hostel of my colleagues is very good and the food can improve. There is a curfew in hostel of 8 in the night. There are many hanging out spots around the place as I said many good places to eat in Kamla Nagar Hudson lane GTB Nagar and more, this whole area is filled with student and colleges so mostly the crowds consists of students who roam around the whole campus

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
