Course Curriculum Overview

4

English Hons is a course of interest. Curriculum is well designed for enthusiast of literature consisting of Epics, Dramas and Poetry. Semester 1 includes bifurcation into European Classical Literature and Indian Classical Literature. With succeeding semesters, course delves with different century's literature and drama. Comprehending Chaucer and Shakespeare is a daunting task but faculty teachers makes it easy.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are various companies such as Wipro, Metvy, and many more that offer internships. Along with these, we have VC Internship scheme as wel. The roles offered are diverse but it depends upon your course and your skills

Placement Experience

3

Honestly, placement depends upon your skill. Even 1st year student do sit for placement and if your skill matches the vacancy, you are placed. As such there is no criterion for sitting for placement and no barriers of year you belong to.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is paid yearly which is Rs. 32000 for 1st year including tuition fees and all. Examination fees has to be paid semester wise which is around Rs.1500-1800 depending upon the course you adopted for.

Campus Life

4

Manjari is the annual fest of DRC which is an absolute delight and rocking. We have bollywood singers in our fest and it's one of the best fest among all DU collages but restricted for only female students. There are department wise fest, Diwali fest, etc. Daulat Ram College has no of of societies and clubs. Society’s of DRC are quite active and participating.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel is bit expensive of DRC as it takes around 1.75k for a year. But the facilities are quite good. Hostel is too alloted on the basis of the CUET score and the category you belong to as there are very limited seats in Hostel. Apart from hostel, there are various PGs where most of the student reside.

Admission

After appearing for CUET UG, we make preferences of the desired college and on the basis on the CUET score, colleges are alloted. So, Daulat Ram College was my 7th preference and I was alloted this as per my category and cut off I cleaned. Although it was 7th preferred college, I have no regret of getting into it. DRC is one of the most underrated college of North Campus which I hope will improve with time as it deserves more.

Faculty

4

English Department and Faculty teachers is one of the best among all DU colleges. Faculty teachers are very experienced and they genuinely guide and help students as per requirement. Also, every student is provided with a mentor throughout their graduation period who guides about placements, research work and future prospects. Exams are neither easy nor that difficult. With help of regular classes and professor's guidance, syllabus is covered and exams are made easy-going.

Interview Experience

4

CUET UG is the criteria for getting into any college of DU. And same goes true for DRC as well. There is a basic cut off according to the course and category. Preparing for CUET UG is simple as it consistent of 12th syllabus and you just need to be active while filling the forms of CUET and be aware of it's deadlines.

Night Life

4

We have 2 cafeteria consisting of Amul and Nescafe and our own canteen. Food is affordable and delicious. Campus timing is till 5 pm in the evening. Library of DRC is quite spacious and accessible for all college student. Hostel is quite good but a bit expensive. The last in-time for hostel is 7:00 pm.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
