Course Curriculum Overview

4

So, the curriculum has 7 subjects, 3 of them are the core subjects or the DSCs. In my case, they are all related to economics. And the rest are compulsory elective courses from different departments. I liked the quantitative aspect of the curriculum as it made the curriculum interesting and practical. The curriculum is not up to date but still has decent connection with real world. The exams are moderate to difficult and are held every six months in the end of each semester.

Placement Experience

3

There is a dedicated student run, placement cell at Ramjas College, known as Pinnacle- The Placement Cell of Ramjas. The students are eligible for placements from their 5th Semester. There are many companies which visit campus, such as Deloitte, De Shaw, KPMG etc. 109 Companies visited with 120+ offers made. The average package was 7.5L p/a and highest being 24LPA. My plans after degree includes either getting placed or pursuing Masters.

Fees and Financial Aid

The annual fees is 15343 and includes all types of fees mentioned as we do not get break up of the component of each of them. There are many different scholarships offered by Delhi University and other private foundations as well, such as Reliance Foundation etc.

Campus Life

4

The campus life at Ramjas is decent. When you enter the college, that time is quite vibrant due to Elections. And after that during the months of February to April, there are fests happening left to right from smaller club fests to the College's Annual Fest, Mosaic. The classes in the new building are quite spacious to accommodate large batch sizes. There are many sports offered with multiple dedicated grounds such as Football, Basket ball, Volley ball, badminton, table tennis, Shooting etc. The student-run clubs and societies are quite in number here and are very active and competitive as well, which helps student improve and learn.

Admission

I had applied to many colleges and got in most of them, but i choose Ramjas for it's prestige, exposure, good economics faculty, the affordability and the brand value of both ramjas and Delhi University. Other colleges i applied to were quite expensive and i didn’t get the idea of spending a lot on my under graduation and apart from that they did not have the diversity and society culture that DU and Ramjas provides, which helps in overall development.

Faculty

4

Most of my department's faculty members are quite approachable and learned. They have great background and experience. Most of them always ensures that the doubts are being cleared and are always fair in marking for internals. From the faculty that i have learnt from, Prof. Sonia Goel is a very good teacher, she is very dedicated about what she teaches, she loves the subject and ensures that her students understand the concepts well. The examination has two parts internal and external examination. Internal examination includes attendance, class tests, vivas etc. And external examination is the written exam. The distribution is 70+90, internal and external respectively. Regular studying ensures decent result though it is also important to note that economics is on the tougher part and required great concept understanding and practice.

Night Life

4

The night life is quite great in North Campus, where the college is situated. The hostel has very less capacity therefore most of the out of station students reside in nearby residential areas. There is a famous market known as Kamla Nagar that provides night hangout spots. There are many cafes in Hudson lane which is nearby as well. There is great night culture in Vijay Nagar as well which has many eateries. Overall, North Campus is quite happening both in day and night.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

The course curriculum is highly relevant and well-structured. It covers core subjects in detail along with modern industry-oriented topics. The balance between theory and practical learning is good, which helps students build strong concepts and job-ready skills for the future.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
