Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum for economics honours is somewhat similar to that of what is provided in London School of Economics,it's more of quantitative heavy economics, involving subjects like mathematical methods, statistics economic ,quantitative methods etc

Internships Opportunities

3

Hansraj college also has an internship cell which brings a lot of internship opportunities of different roles , but again that opportunities are based on the skilled of the student ,it does provide so training to grab up opportunities however majorly depends on the ability of the student only

Placement Experience

2

There is a placement cell in Hansraj College which does provides placements of highest package around 25 lakh of last year and being median package around 7 lakhs, but this for selective courses like economics and BCom Honours and computer science Honours & few of mathematics honours while rest of the courses required to have different kind of skill sets can also go for placement depending up on the role that the companies bring to be hired for

Fees and Financial Aid

The year-wise fees for BA economics honours is around 32000 to 33000 , change slightly for every batch. The total fees for the complete course will be less than 1 lakh for 3 years as of now for 2025-2028 batch. The fee varies over for different categories of reservation like for SC ST and PWD candidates . There are scholarships and financial aids provided by the college itself and also the University of Delhi based on income criteria and other conditions.

Campus Life

3

The overall experience of Hansraj College as compared to the other colleges of Delhi University is good only as there is good infrastructure including AC in the classroom and clean drinking water available and the campus has greenery, so it's good and it provide all most all of the facilities that most most of the colleges of North Campus like SRCC and Hindu provides the college, has some good societies working towards different fields

Admission

I had a preference list as required by Delhi University while taking admission and the colleges are basically allotted based on your preference sheet and the scores of your cuet exam, so I got allotted Hansraj as per score and following the preference list and number of seats and various other criteria that the University follows for allotment of seat to eligible candidate and one of my top preferred college was Hansraj because it's as a good brand name, it's located in North Campus Prime area and the department of Economics of Hansraj College is prestigious as said by many, we got a good alumin network

Faculty

2

The faculty member are over all good most of them have done there Masters from reputed Institution. The course involves 3 discipline specific core subjects , some ability enhancement course ,skill enhancement course and value added course and a concept of minor degree with the introduction of new education policy which is given as General elective of different department .The examinations are in held in two parts internals and external, internals consisting of 70 marks & externals of 90 marks for 4 credits subjects where as for 2 credit papers have 80 marks which could be sometimes theory or sometimes practical depending upon which optional paper people opt for.

Night Life

3

Talking about the night life I would say as in the college do not provide any hostel facility , wo no nightlife within the college because the college closes by 7 to 8 that also only in time for library as classes last till 5 only and most of the people have taken flats or PG as the accommodation facility, so for the nightlife is majorly in the nearby Mauritius Nagar in the North Campus where student roam around with their friends visiting different popular areas trying food at different places cafes, hangouts & all.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Remarks:

Positive : the faculties are good and I could say our college is the meeting place of various cultures ranging from Kerala to jammukashmir Negative: the infrastructure is poor. Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
