Course Curriculum Overview

5

I really like Human Geography which let me to opt for this paper. Besides theory papers, we also have practical papers every semester through which we conduct surveys, interviews, research which helps us in preparing for the real world applications as well as further academic pursuits if we want to go in the field of Remote sensing or GIS. I feel that for papers including research or management, we should be showcasing how we can mitigate them or adapt in such scenarios and also make drafts for writing a research for further pursuits. However, as the time is limited it is quite understandable as to why its not conducted. We have two exams in a year and they are quite relevant and easy

Internships Opportunities

3

We have events organised by the Placement Cell after every end of sem to ensure placements of students As for internship, students are allowed to do internships in liu of their SEC paper. Most students in our department do internships related to GIS and Remote Sensing However, the internship are mostly unpaid.

Fees and Financial Aid

We basically pay 14,000 per year for our course Geography (as geography is a practical subject the fees are a bit more as compared to other papers) but this differs according to the courses we opt for. For instance, the ones pursuing Bachelors in Pol Sc usually pay upto 12,000 per year as their course fees. There are many scholarships available for students to apply from NSP side and the college also provides for Fee Consession for students whose total family income is less than 8 lakhs in a year. The scholarships are mostly merit based and it differs from state to state. However, it can easily cover our college fees and miscellaneous expenses and we get that once in a year.

Campus Life

5

We have our annual fest known as Ullas, which happens every year during the month of February or March. There are wide range of books, journals and novels available in our library and every student as access to it. Recently, we were also introduced to DU e-library facilities. The classrooms are all equipped with projectors making it easier for us to understand from the slides presented. Every Wednesday during ECA period, the department of Physical Education organises various sports activities allowing all the students to participate in it and there are many students run societies which we can be a part of as they recruit members once or twice in a year and we can certificates for being a part of it

Admission

I applied under DU CSAS, and got my fourth preference after which I got this college. I wanted to opt for bachelors in Geography so i went with this college. I didn't get rejected from other college as i never opt for any kind of Upgrade The admission process is done after our selection in CUET(UG) which is now mandatory to appear in order to get admissions in any university in India. Students are to appear for CUET(UG) and fulfill the criteria to get admissions here.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio is quite okay. The only problem is that enough classrooms are not available leading to classes taking longer with long gaps in between. The faculties are mostly friendly and approachable. There are two end sem exams in a year and there is no mid sem exams. The exams are quite easy to clear if we are attentive and regular in class as the IA and CAs carry half of the total marks. Almost all students clear their end sem exams except for a handful. The course curriculum is relevant enough. We get to study all the core principles of our paper along with an elective of our liking

Night Life

3

As of now, there is no hostel facilities provided so night life is limited around the campus. However, during their off periods, one can hang out in the cafeterias and Chaupal also the library is open till 4pm. Even though the locality around the college area is safe to roam around at night, since there is no hostel accommodations, it is quite limited and outside the college campus, the small stalls selling Jhal Muri or Papri, Chole Kulche and Diggin are famous among students to hang out during their free period.

Almost 100% as our course students dont have to do much as getting to this college is enough. Our economics society and placement cell both work so hard to get the best companies here and that is why placements at St, Stephen's are amazing not just of our branch but overall as well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

According to me, bachelor of Arts is a waste program, it doesn't prepare you for anything except government exams. It doesn't prepare you for real world applications unless you have other in demand skills. I think there's a lot of need to change the syllabus of bachelor of Arts and teachers should be supportive and qualified. In every 6 months there's semester exams and mostly they're quite difficult.

Remarks:

Positive- Faculty is one of the best in among all colleges of Delhi University. It has the biggest infrastructure in Delhi university. Located in central Delhi which makes it easily accessible to reach Central park, red fort, and many more places in New Delhi. Negative- Annual fest is very poor in our college. Placements are not very good. Lack of sports facilities. Very strict rules and discipline.
