To be eligible for BITSAT 2027, you must have a minimum 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12, with at least 60% in each subject individually.
BITS Pilani conducts BITSAT every year for admission to its B.E., B.Pharm and M.Sc. integrated programmes at Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad and Dubai campuses. Understanding the eligibility criteria early helps you plan your Class 12 preparation and avoid disqualification at the application stage. The criteria cover your academic qualification, subject combination, PCM percentage, English marks and the number of times you can appear.
- PCM aggregate requirement: 75% for General and OBC students; 60% for SC and ST students.
- Per-subject minimum: 60% in each of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
- You must have passed Class 12 in 2026 or be appearing in Class 12 in 2027.
- Maximum 2 attempts — students who passed 12th in 2025 or earlier are not eligible.
- Mathematics is compulsory — Biology-stream students without Mathematics cannot apply.
- No specific age limit is prescribed for BITSAT 2027.

Academic Qualification for BITSAT 2027
You must have passed or be currently appearing in Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognised central or state board. The following subjects must be part of your Class 12 curriculum:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- English (as a language subject)
Students who have taken Biology instead of Mathematics in Class 12 are not eligible for BITSAT 2027. This applies to all BITS Pilani programmes including B.Pharm — there is no provision to seek an exemption. If you are currently in Class 11, ensure you have Mathematics in your subject combination before it is too late to change.
PCM Percentage Requirement for BITSAT 2027
General and OBC students need a minimum 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to satisfy BITSAT 2027 eligibility. Over and above the aggregate, you must also score at least 60% in each of these subjects individually — a high combined average does not meet the requirement if any single subject falls below 60%.
| Criterion | General / OBC | SC / ST |
|---|---|---|
| PCM Aggregate | Minimum 75% | Minimum 60% |
| Minimum in Physics | 60% | 60% |
| Minimum in Chemistry | 60% | 60% |
| Minimum in Mathematics | 60% | 60% |
| Minimum in English | 60% | 60% |
The PCM aggregate is calculated using only your marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Your overall Class 12 percentage — which includes additional subjects like Physical Education or a second language — does not determine BITSAT eligibility. Only the three-subject PCM aggregate and the per-subject scores matter.
Number of Attempts Allowed for BITSAT 2027
You can attempt BITSAT a maximum of two times in two consecutive years. BITS Pilani enforces a strict two-year window tied to your Class 12 pass-out year. For BITSAT 2027 specifically:
- If you passed Class 12 in 2026: You are eligible for BITSAT 2027. This is your second and final attempt window if you also attempted BITSAT 2026.
- If you are appearing in Class 12 in 2027: You are eligible. This will be your first attempt.
- If you passed Class 12 in 2025 or earlier: You are not eligible for BITSAT 2027, regardless of your board marks or previous BITSAT score.
This policy effectively prevents a multi-year drop strategy for BITSAT. Students who passed Class 12 in 2025 and took a gap year in 2026 have exhausted their two-attempt window and cannot apply in 2027.
Category-wise Eligibility for BITSAT 2027
BITS Pilani relaxes the PCM aggregate threshold for SC and ST students. The per-subject minimum of 60% remains the same for all categories.
| Category | PCM Aggregate Required | Per-Subject Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| General | 75% | 60% in each of PCM and English |
| OBC-NCL | 75% | 60% in each of PCM and English |
| SC | 60% | 60% in each of PCM and English |
| ST | 60% | 60% in each of PCM and English |
OBC-NCL students are treated at par with General category for the PCM aggregate requirement. Only SC and ST students receive the lower 60% aggregate threshold. The two-attempt limit and per-subject minimums apply equally to all categories.
