BITSAT 2027 Exam Pattern: Marks Distribution and Bonus Question Rules

As per the BITSAT exam pattern 2027, the total number of questions asked in the BITSAT question paper is 130, distributed among various subjects.

  • Mathematics has the highest weightage and carries 40 questions.
  • Physics and Chemistry each carry 30 questions in the BITSAT question paper.
  • 10 questions are asked from BITSAT English Proficiency and 20 from Logical Reasoning.
Section Questions Marks Weightage (%)
Physics 30 90 23%
Chemistry 30 90 23%
English Proficiency 10 30 8%
Logical Reasoning 20 60 15%
Mathematics / Biology 40 120 31%
Total 130 390 100%

BITSAT 2027 Marking Scheme

For each correct answer, you will get +3 marks added to the overall score. For each incorrect answer, -1 mark will be deducted.

  • With +3 marks for each correct answer, you can score a maximum of 390 marks in BITSAT 2027.
  • There is no negative marking for unattempted questions.
Answer Type Marking Scheme
Correct Answer +3 marks
Incorrect Answer -1 mark
Unattempted Questions 0 marks

BITSAT 2027 Bonus Questions Rule

Candidates who finish all 130 questions can attempt 12 bonus questions worth 36 marks. Such candidates will not be allowed to make changes to previously submitted 130 questions.

Particulars Details
Number of Bonus Questions 12
Bonus Questions Marks 36
Total Marks After Bonus Questions 426
Note: This split changes how you plan BITSAT 2027 preparation: a student with 90% accuracy in English and Logical Reasoning banks about 81 marks from only 30 questions. That is why BITSAT English and reasoning practice should begin in October, not in the final month.

Ques. What is the maximum score in BITSAT 2027?

Ans. The 130 main questions carry 390 marks. The 12 bonus questions add 36 marks, so the highest possible score is 426.

Ques. Should I attempt BITSAT bonus questions?

Ans. Attempt them only after clearing all 130 questions with high accuracy, because wrong answers still cost 1 mark and the main section locks. Students on Collegedunia and Careers360 suggest reserving the last 20 to 30 minutes for bonus questions.

Subject Wise BITSAT 2027 Best Books

BITSAT is based on the NCERT Class 11 and 12 syllabus, so the best books for BITSAT 2027 start with NCERT and add a single reference book per subject.

In a Reddit post on “r/Bitsatards”, students recommend the Arihant BITSAT Prep Guide for questions and MathonGo or Embibe for mock tests. Experts also advise keeping resources limited so that revision time is not lost. Students are recommended to choose books by section weight: Mathematics (40 questions) deserves two practice sources, while English Proficiency (10 questions) needs only one grammar and vocabulary book plus daily timed practice.

Subject Recommended Books Best Use
Physics NCERT, HC Verma, SL Arora Concepts and numericals
Chemistry NCERT, JD Lee (Inorganic), Solomon and Fryhle (Organic) Reactions and inorganic facts
Mathematics NCERT, G Tewani (Cengage), SK Goyal Speed in algebra, calculus, coordinate geometry
English Proficiency Wren and Martin, Word Power Made Easy Grammar, vocabulary, jumbled words
Logical Reasoning RS Aggarwal Logical Reasoning Series, coding-decoding, syllogisms
Practice and PYQs Arihant BITSAT Prep Guide, Disha GoTo Guide, MTG BITSAT Explorer Previous year questions and mocks

Ques. Is NCERT enough for BITSAT 2027?

Ans. NCERT is enough to build the base, especially for Chemistry, where inorganic questions come straight from it. For a 300+ target, add one reference book per subject and regular BITSAT-pattern mock tests.

Ques. Do I need JEE Advanced books for BITSAT?

Ans. No. BITSAT rewards speed over depth, so JEE Main-level problems plus timed mocks are enough, and heavy Advanced problem books slow down your revision.

BITSAT Last-Minute Revision Tips: 15-Day Plan and Exam-Day Strategy

BITSAT last-minute revision should be built around accuracy, not new chapters. Students must focus on solving mock tests and PYQs in the last 15 days of preparation.

A BITSAT 2026 candidate who scored 319 shared that he finished Chemistry, Logical Reasoning, and English in the first 45 to 60 minutes, gave Mathematics about 60 minutes and Physics 30 to 40 minutes, and kept the last 30 minutes for bonus questions.

Experts advise 85 to 90% accuracy on the first 130 questions within about 2 hours before touching bonus questions. Students are recommended to avoid any new topic in the final 15 days and spend one hour daily on formulas, short notes, and an error notebook.

Days Left Focus Daily Target
15 to 11 High-yield chapters, NCERT Chemistry, formula revision 40 to 60 quality questions, 20 to 25 English and LR questions
10 to 4 Full-length BITSAT mocks and error analysis One mock on alternate days, re-solve every wrong question
3 to 1 Formula sheets, error notebook, English and LR Light revision, no new topics, full sleep

Also Check:

Ques. Can I score 300+ in BITSAT with 15 days left?

Ans. Covering the full syllabus in 15 days is not realistic, but a 300+ score is possible if your JEE-level base is solid. Focus on frequently asked chapters, daily mocks, and English-Logical Reasoning accuracy.

Ques. What should I avoid in the last week before BITSAT?

Ans. Avoid starting new chapters, switching books, and attempting bonus questions without finishing the main paper. Keep to topics you have already covered and revise your error notebook.

BITSAT 2027 Dropper Strategy: Eligibility, Study Plan and Mock Schedule

Reddit threads from droppers show the usual confusion is between JEE Main attempts, COMEDK, and BITSAT, so a combined plan works best. Droppers can also use the two-session format to test their BITSAT strategy in Session 1 and fix timing errors before Session 2.

  • In the October to December phase, students are recommended to rebuild weak chapters from NCERT and start an error notebook.
  • During Jan to Mar 2027, attempt at least 1 weekly mock test and 20-25 English and LR questions daily.
  • During Apr to May 2027, attempt 10-15 full mock tests and focus on bonus question timing practice.
Phase Period Dropper Plan
Foundation Oct to Dec 2026 Rebuild weak chapters from NCERT plus one reference book, start an error notebook
Speed Jan to Mar 2027 JEE Main attempts, one weekly BITSAT-pattern mock, 20 to 25 English and LR questions daily
Exam window Apr to May 2027 (expected) 10 to 15 full-length mocks, bonus-question timing practice, Session 2 as a second chance

Droppers should also manage fatigue, because high-volume problem solving without a fixed break routine leads to burnout and falling mock scores.

Ques. Can droppers appear for BITSAT 2027?

Ans. Yes, if you passed Class 12 in 2026 and meet the 75% PCM and 60% per-subject criteria, based on the BITSAT 2026 rule. Candidates who passed Class 12 two or more years earlier were not eligible in the 2026 cycle.

Ques. How many mock tests should a BITSAT dropper take?

Ans. Aim for 10 to 15 full-length BITSAT-pattern mocks in the last 40 days, with one to two hours of analysis after each. Track section-wise accuracy and time instead of chasing only the total score.
