Durham College Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Indian applicants clear a combined academic and English test threshold. The document checklist sits in the admissions silo.
Postgraduate Certificate Requirements (3 to 4 bullets):
- Academic: Bachelor’s degree from a recognised Indian university in first or second division (equivalent to 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 or higher, per Durham College international admission requirements)
- English proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, or TOEFL iBT 80 (legacy scale) with no section below 20, or PTE Academic 53 with no section below 49, or Duolingo English Test 105
- Credential verification: WES ICAP evaluation for Indian transcripts before offer confirmation
- Standout requirement: Practical Nursing and Dental Hygiene need IELTS 7.0 overall with 7.0 in speaking and listening plus Class 12 Biology
Undergraduate Diploma and Degree Requirements:
- Academic: All India Senior School Certificate or HSC (Class 12) with subject-specific minimums per programme, typically 55% to 75% (recommended)
- Language: Same English test minimums as postgraduate, IELTS 6.0 baseline
- Documentation: Official Class 12 mark sheet, passport bio page and completed application via IELTS or accepted test report
Key insight: Durham College does not require GRE, GMAT or SAT for any programme. Indian applicants save application time and test fees, but must strictly meet the IELTS 6.0 no-band-below-5.5 rule as retakes stall offer letters.
Durham College Acceptance Rate 2027
Durham College does not publish an official institution-wide acceptance rate. Based on third-party visa consultancy data and Ontario college admission patterns, the effective international acceptance rate sits at 60% to 70% (estimated). This is a moderate-selectivity figure typical of Ontario polytechnics with rolling admissions.
The estimate should be read as programme-specific rather than institution-wide. Business, IT, general arts and hospitality see higher acceptance rates near the upper band. Practical Nursing, Dental Hygiene and Paramedic sit closer to 25% to 35% (estimated) because seats are capped by clinical placement availability.
Reality check: For Indian graduate certificate applicants, meeting the IELTS 6.0 and 55% bachelor’s minimum plus applying before the equal consideration deadline typically converts to an offer within 4 to 6 weeks. Late applications after the equal consideration deadline face far tighter competition on remaining seats.

Durham College Campus, Facilities and Student Life
Durham College operates two main campuses. The Oshawa campus at 2000 Simcoe Street North houses most academic faculties. The Whitby campus focuses on Skilled Trades, Apprenticeship and Culinary programmes.
- Location and transport: Oshawa GO train station connects to Toronto Union in 55 minutes; Durham Region Transit UPass included in ancillary fees
- Housing: On-campus residence guaranteed for first-year international students at both Oshawa (South Village) and Whitby campuses, CAD $850 to $1,350 per month (₹ 0.59 to 0.94 Lakh)
- Notable facility: Centre for Collaborative Education (CFCE) at the Oshawa campus houses Indigenous student services and industry innovation labs
- Indian student community: Active Indian Students Association organises Diwali, Holi and cricket events; South Asian grocery stores within 2 kilometres of Oshawa campus
What Indian students say: On-campus residence works well in Year 1 for language settling and course network building. Most students shift to shared off-campus housing from Year 2 to cut costs. The Oshawa GO train link makes Toronto weekend trips easy without owning a car.
Durham College Scholarships 2027
Durham College confirms two international-focused entrance awards. No award is India-nationality specific, but both automatically apply to Indian applicants.
| Scholarship | Type | Award Value | Eligibility | Deadline |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Global Entrance Scholarship | Automatic entrance | CAD $2,000 to $3,000 (₹ 1.39 to 2.08 Lakh) | New full-time international student paying international fees | Automatic on offer acceptance |
| Degree Entrance Award | Merit-based | CAD $500 to $3,000 (₹ 0.35 to 2.08 Lakh) | Honours Bachelor degree applicants only, academic merit | Automatic on offer acceptance |
| Global Entrance + Degree stackable | Combined award | Up to CAD $6,000 (₹ 4.17 Lakh) | Bachelor degree applicants meeting both criteria | Automatic |
[Source: Durham College Global Entrance Scholarship]
Planning note: Both scholarships require no separate application. The award credits to student accounts after offer acceptance and study permit approval. Any programme transfer or unscheduled semester gap forfeits the scholarship, which matters if an Indian student plans to switch from diploma to degree mid-way.

Durham College vs Peer Ontario Polytechnics
Durham College sits in the middle tier of Ontario public colleges. Its natural peers are Centennial, Seneca and Humber in the Greater Toronto Area, plus Fleming in the Central Ontario cluster.
| Institution | Collegedunia Study Abroad (Canada) 2026 | Avg Annual Diploma Fee (CAD / ₹) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|
| Durham College | #63 of 116 | CAD $15,489 / ₹ 10.76 Lakh | Small class sizes, GO train link to Toronto, 88.6% grad employment |
| Centennial College | NA (verify at official ranking page) | CAD $17,000 to $19,000 (estimated) / ₹ 11.81 to 13.20 Lakh | Aerospace and Transportation Centre, strong Scarborough Toronto location |
| Seneca Polytechnic | NA (verify at official ranking page) | CAD $17,500 to $21,000 (estimated) / ₹ 12.16 to 14.59 Lakh | Largest programme catalogue, degree pathways to York University |
| Humber Polytechnic | NA (verify at official ranking page) | CAD $18,000 to $22,000 (estimated) / ₹ 12.51 to 15.29 Lakh | Toronto Etobicoke campus, media and creative arts strength |
| Fleming College | NA (verify at official ranking page) | CAD $15,000 to $18,000 (estimated) / ₹ 10.42 to 12.51 Lakh | Environmental Sciences focus, Peterborough small-town setting |
Durham College stands out on two axes for Indian applicants. Its diploma tuition is the lowest in this Greater Toronto Area peer set at CAD $15,489 per year (₹ 10.76 Lakh). Its Ontario KPI Graduate Employment of 88.6% sits above the provincial college average of 84% for the same reporting cycle.
Durham College fits Indian students prioritising a career-focused polytechnic credential with strong PGWP outcomes at moderate cost. The two-year Ontario College Diploma plus one-year Graduate Certificate stack lands total tuition under ₹ 32 Lakh with a three-year PGWP on the other side. Median starting salaries of CAD $42,000 to $52,000 recover that investment within 12 to 18 months of first job.
Durham College is not the right fit for applicants seeking a research-heavy Bachelor degree or a QS-ranked institution. Indian students targeting research or a globally ranked university profile should look at universities in Canada like the University of Toronto, McMaster or Waterloo instead.

Overview
The admission process for college is relatively straightforward. We have to submit an application form, transcripts of all previous academic work, a copy of the PTE test & a copy of the passport and visa application form. I have an admission with the help of the consultant agency CanDream Consulting and Coaching.
Campus Life
Campus life is impressive there are over 100 clubs and societies of sports and cultural organizations. There is a large number of Indian students and Indian clubs and societies there, This made it easy to adjust to life in Canada and to make new friends. For sports, there is a modern facility with a gymnasium, fitness centre, swimming pool and indoor running track etc. The name of the campus fest is Welcome Week, Fall Fest, Winter Fest, and Spring Fling.
Likes
- The location enticed me. The reviews and the alumni of the college really appreciated it. The reviews of the faculty also encouraged me to choose this college.
- The best thing about Durham College is its readily available help resources. We have SALS for resume, GET HIRED for helping to find part time and full time job roles. The best thing about Durham is it provides you with DRT (Durham Transit Pass) which most of the colleges or universities does not offer.
- DRT allows you to use the transit which covers 7 regions across going as far as Ajax and Uxbridge. The faculty at Durham has practical experience and has hands on knowledge about what they are teaching. They are also ready to help apart from the schooling hours. Durham also provides for extra classes and is always ready to help. It also celebrated multi- cultural festivals like Holi which felt very inclusive and friendly. The Campus is enormous and beautiful. It has a trail at the back of the college too.
Dislikes
- There is nothing to dislike about the College. The college is so big that it takes time to figure out where are the classes and to reach the classes as well but the time tables are made as such that they give time to reach to different classrooms.

- This college was suggesting by my agent. It was not far away from Toronto downtown, however it is in Toronto GTA. So everything is nearby. And it is a growing city so there were lot of other benefits.
Overview
The overall experience was very good. I would rate 8 out of 10. Faculty was very helpful, lots of room for entertainment and relaxation, free tuition classes.
Campus Life

- Durham College is a well-known university that offers great programs for both local and international students.
- Durham College is known for its student diversity and inclusion. The teachers are friendly and deliver courses with personalized attention. The course modules are well-structured and cater to the individual needs of students.
Dislikes
- Durham College offers almost zero placements when it comes to landing jobs after graduation. Thus, students have a hard time finding relevant jobs once passing out. I personally think the college has a lot to work on when it comes to student job support.
Overview
My experience at Durham College was pretty great. The teachers were friendly and the courses were well-designed to allow us to learn about each and every aspect of Digital Media Management. We had students from different countries which added to the diversity. Overall, I would recommend future students to definitely check out Durham College if they are considering Canada as their study destination.
Campus Life
Campus life is pretty exciting. The college offers a gymnasium for students, along with a health club and medical check-ups from time to time. They also have a huge library where students can get access to learning resources.
Overview
The period I was applying to study abroad was too late for the specific intake and Durham College was still accepting students so I applied here.
Fees
For me as an international student, it was somewhere between $7000 to $8000 for each semester and I had 4 semesters in my program.
Overview
I had done my Bachelors in the field, other colleges were not providing a three-year course for the program. Having good theoretical knowledge in this field, wanted to get more hands-on practice, which this college was providing. Most importantly they were providing placement options last year, which would give me a broader vision of whether I could survive in this field for the next 20-25 years of my life.
Fees
14867 Per year
Overview
I did my bachelors in computer science engineering and ever since I have worked as a Business Analyst. I chose this program to further my knowledge of Analytics and Data. It is a vast field and is highly in demand. I chose to come to Canada as the country is very accepting of immigrants like myself. I love how every festival or event is celebrated here as well. The reason why I chose Durham college was that it was the only college which offered me the course I was looking for.
Fees
I was awarded a scholarship based on my IELTS score. The award structure is $500 for 6.5 scores, $1000 for 7.5 and $1500 for 8.5 and above. I had paid for my entire tuition fee for the program as it was required for my visa. For people who cannot afford to pay the fees all at once, it can be paid in instalments. I had paid $150000 at once.
Overview
When I searched for a new course and college, it was one of my friend in Canada suggested Durham college. So I choose Durham college and also I checked the ranking of Durham college in Canada educational institutions ranking. And I enquire about the college details to my other friends in Canada also.
Fees
My tution fee is approximately $ 15,789 per year. I dont have any scholarships. We can pay fees by sem wise and instalment wise also. They break the entire fee into half and we have to pay it by sem wise. So it is somewhat easy for the students to pay the fees but it is a huge amount compared to domestic students fees.
Overview
I heard that you will get exposure to this college. I have applied to York and Ryerson university but I got rejected. I had offers from Seneca college and Durham college. I chose Durham college because the course curriculum was good. Getting good faculty matters a lot.
Fees
The fees for this program is 16000 which you can opt to give in 3 instalments. They provide scholarships too on the basis of how much you scored in your IELTS test. If you get 8 in IELTS, you will get $1000 off, if you get 7.5 then you will get $500. So, I would suggest you do some preparation before your exam.
Overview
I love to get this programme and I have heard before from my friends that this college is good for study. I have applied in two colleges one is in Hamilton and one here in Durham college. I got the offer letter for Mohawk college but I was waiting for getting an offer letter for this college because that's my dream to study at this college.
Fees
The basic fee structure is 15000-20000 $vper year. But our college providing us scholarship like 500$,1000$ for good ielts score. They are providing 500$ for 6.5 bands in IELTS. I don't have any loan here in canada. But my friend get scholarship for 500$ as she got 6.5 bands. So she has to pay 500$ less in her fees.
