Ans. IGNOU is a national open university that offers open, distance, and online modes of education. The institute is approved by NCTE and AICTE. It carries out most of its evaluations via self-assessment, assignments, and term-end examinations. The following points discuss certain parameters that one should know, before deciding to pursue a B. Sc degree at the institute. Eligibility: The institute offers a B.Sc (general) degree program for a duration of 3 to 6 years. Students need to have a 10+2 equivalent in science or related field in order to qualify for the program. It charges a total course fee of INR 12,500. This fee is exclusive of the registration and examination fee. Course structure: Students can choose any three from a variety of disciplines that include botany, chemistry, zoology, geography, geology, mathematics, and physics. Next, the core courses and elective courses have to be specific to the three disciplines selected above. Laboratory work is compulsory. Students will learn topics including biodiversity, plant ecology, atom structure, petrology, etc. depending on the discipline chosen.
