    Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research or commonly known as JIPMER, is a medical school located in Puducherry. It is an institute of national importance and managed by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. 

    JIPMER 2020 exam has been replaced by NEET examination. Candidates willing to take admission in the UG program offered by the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research, Puducherry, can appear in NEET exam. Previously, the institute itself conducted the examination.

    Indian nationals, with a 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible to apply online at jipmer.edu.in. The number of registrants applying for JIPMER 2020 is likely to cross 2 lakh. Although such a huge number of students apply for the exam, it should be kept in mind that there will be no provision to make corrections in the applications after its final submission. Therefore, make sure to go through all the guidelines for mandatory fields like Applicant’s name and basic information, Photo size and Signature Details, etc. thoroughly before uploading the application form. 

    JIPMER and AIIMS are the only two institutes across the country that managed their own entrance exams for MBBS. All the other institutes in India conduct their MBBS admissions via the NEET exam (directed by the NTA). However, the Government of India has added JIPMER and AIIMS into the list of exams conducted by the NTA (National Testing Agency) from this academic session. Nearly 2 lakh students had appeared for the exam last year which was held at 290 centers across India. The total number of seats available under JIPMER 2020 is expected to be 200, 150 seats in JIPMER Puducherry and 50 seats in JIPMER Karaikal.

    Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (or JIPMER) has determined the standards for applying to JIPMER 2020 exam based on academic qualification, age criteria, nationality and some other requirements. 

    1. Nationality
      • Indian Citizens: Candidate must be a citizen of India
      • Overseas Citizen of India/ NRI: Candidates who are living overseas are necessary to be registered under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955. Proof of Registration as OCI should be submitted at the time of application.
      • Foreign Nationals: Candidates with Foreign Nationality should take prior permission from the Medical Council of India.
    1. Age Criteria
      • Age limit: Candidates should have completed at least 17 years at the time of admission year.
      • Age relaxation: No relaxation is granted for reserved category in terms of age limit.
    2. Academic Qualification:
      • Qualifying exam: Candidates must have qualified 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
      • Qualifying subjects: Candidates should pass the above examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology subjects.
      • Minimum marks required for qualification: Candidates should secure at least 50% marks for General category and 40% marks for OBC, SC, ST, OPH category and 45% marks for General and OPH category in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology subjects.
    3. Appearing in the qualifying exam:
      • Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing the 10+2 or qualifying exam in March or April during the year of the exam or candidates who are anticipating their results are eligible to apply.

    How to Fill JIPMER Application Form 2020?

    Candidates seeking to apply for JIPMER MBBS will be able to fill the application form in online mode only. Thus, no requests for offline availability of the application form shall be entertained. Before starting the registration procedure, candidates are required to keep a few documents and details handy, such as:

    • Personal details
    • Academic details
    • Scanned passport size photograph and signature
    • Valid email ID and mobile number
    • Credit/ Debit card/ NetBanking –  CheckJIPMER Application Fee

    The complete application process for JIPMER 2020 can be broken down into 5 further steps, but first, an applicant will need to follow these basic steps in order to be prepared – 

    Basic Steps:

    • Visit the official website, jipmer.edu.in/ jipmer.puducherry.gov.in.
    • Navigate to ‘Apply online MBBS Admission 2020’ link.
    • Read the prospectus and instruction carefully.

    Step 1: Registration

    • Enter a valid mobile number and email id. Ensure that the mobile number is not registered with DND service.
    • A User ID and Password and login link will be sent to the registered email id and mobile number. Please wait until you receive the SMS and Email.
    • Candidates must check the email and click the link to complete the process of registration.

    Step 2: Login

    • Click on the login link received via email.
    • Enter the User ID and Password to login.

    Step 3: Click ‘Edit’ to Fill the JIPMER Form

    • Click on the “Edit” button which is available at the right top corner.
    • Fill in all the details and click submit to proceed.
    • Upload the Photograph and Signature 
    • Upload the community certificate (if applicable)
    • Upload the PwD (Persons with Disability) Certificate (If applicable)

    Step 4: Payment for JIPMER

    • Candidate would be redirected to payment gateway after uploading the photograph/signature/community certificate successfully.
    • The fee can be paid via online mode only. There is no provision to make payment via offline mode.

    Candidates will be able to proceed to the payment section only after adding all the necessary details in the application form. Candidates should carefully fill in the details and follow the instructions displayed on the screen because the application form cannot be edited once it is submitted.

    Things to Remember:

    • JIPMER and AIIMS MBBS now falls under NEET and are conducted by NTA.
    • JIPMER MBBS is conducted in offline (pen-paper) mode.
    • The exam is conducted across 120 cities in two shifts. 
    • There is no form correction window for those who provide incorrect information in their application form. 

    Students must be having mixed feelings about the exam now since it is now merged with NEET, but it is advised to not lose hope and use this for their benefit by solving previous year papers and giving mock tests. Moreover, students can check NEET exam pattern for a better understanding of the exam.

    Hi Sana, last date of submission of application form was April 12, 2019. Moreover, there is no update regarding extension of last date for the same. Thus, you cannot fill the application form for current session now.

    There is only one solution that one more time JIPMER 2018 application will have to be submitted with fees before the last date of submission of JIPMER 2018 application form.

    Candidates have to follow the step wise procedure to fill application form. Candidates can select exam city as their preference before paying fee but can not get exam center first.
