JIPMER Counselling 2027: Registration Expected August, Choice Filling and Round Wise Seat Allotment

JIPMER Counselling 2027 is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services, on behalf of JIPMER for MBBS admissions at its campuses in Puducherry and Karaikal. The entire process runs through mcc.nic.in, based on NEET 2027 scores. JIPMER has 243 MBBS seats — 182 at JIPMER Puducherry and 61 at JIPMER Karaikal — split across the Open Seat Quota and the UT Puducherry Domicile Quota.

Reservation of Quotas for JIPMER Counselling 2027

JIPMER’s 243 MBBS seats are divided into two quota types: the Open Seat Quota (open to all-India merit, no domicile restriction) and the UT Puducherry Domicile Quota (restricted to residents of the Union Territory of Puducherry). Within each quota, the Central Government reservation roster is applied by MCC, which publishes the final category-wise seat breakdown at mcc.nic.in before counselling opens.

The UT Puducherry Domicile Quota has its own sub-categories — P-UR, P-EWS, P-OBC-NCL, P-SC, P-ST — each with 5% horizontal PwD seats. The P-OBC-NCL sub-category requires a Puducherry UT-format OBC certificate, which is distinct from a Central Government-format OBC-NCL certificate required for the Open Seat OBC-NCL category.

OBC-NCL certificates for the Open Seat Quota must be in the Central Government format — state-issued OBC certificates are not accepted for this category.

How to Apply for JIPMER Counselling 2027?

MCC NEET UG Counselling 2027 for JIPMER seats is fully online at mcc.nic.in. The process runs in four sequential rounds. You register once and may need to re-register for subsequent rounds as directed by MCC. Students must complete all five steps within the stipulated timeline to be considered for seat allotment in each round.

Step 1: Registration on mcc.nic.in

Visit mcc.nic.in and open the "UG Medical Counselling 2027" section. Click "New Registration" and enter your NEET 2027 Roll Number, NEET 2027 Application Number, and date of birth. The portal auto-fetches your name, category, and qualifying score from the NEET database. Create a password, enter your mobile number and email ID, and submit. Your User ID and a registration confirmation are sent to your registered contacts. Keep these credentials safe — you will use them for all four rounds.

Step 2: Counselling Fee Payment

Log in with your User ID. Navigate to "Fee Payment" and pay the applicable non-refundable registration fee and refundable security deposit via net banking, debit card, or credit card through the MCC payment gateway. Download and save the fee receipt — it is required during document verification at JIPMER. Category-wise fee amounts are detailed in the Fees section of this page.

Step 3: Choice Filling and Locking

Once fee payment is confirmed, open the Choice Filling section within the active window. Search for "JIPMER Puducherry" and "JIPMER Karaikal" under the Central Institutions filter. Add them to your preference list along with 15% AIQ government medical seats and any other eligible central institution seats. Arrange choices in your order of priority, save, and — before the window closes — click "Lock Choices" to finalise your list. Fill at least 15–20 choices across eligible colleges to maximise your chances across all rounds.

Step 4: Seat Allotment

MCC publishes the round-wise seat allotment result on mcc.nic.in on the scheduled date. Log in, download your allotment letter, and select your post-allotment response — Float, Freeze, or Withdraw — within the deadline specified in the letter. Students choosing Float upload documents online for MCC verification without physical reporting. Students choosing Freeze must also physically report to the allotted JIPMER campus by the joining deadline.

Step 5: Reporting to JIPMER

Students who Freeze their allotted JIPMER seat must physically report to JIPMER Puducherry or JIPMER Karaikal — as specified in the allotment letter — on or before the last joining date. Carry all original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies. Pay the joining fee at the campus, complete the enrollment formality, and collect your provisional admission letter. No seat is held beyond the deadline — late reporting forfeits the allotment automatically.

How to Fill and Lock Choices for JIPMER Counselling 2027 (Step-by-Step Guide)

Choice filling is the most critical step in MCC NEET UG counselling. MCC’s algorithm scans your locked list from top to bottom and assigns you the highest-ranked choice where your NEET score and category qualify. The wider and more carefully ranked your list, the better your chances of securing a JIPMER seat. You can save and edit your choices multiple times before the window closes; only the final lock is irreversible.

Step 1: Log In to the MCC Portal

• Enter your registered User ID and password to log in.
• Navigate to the "Choice Filling" tab under the active round.

Step 2: Search for JIPMER Seats

• Use the "Search College" tool and filter by "Central Institutions."
• Search "JIPMER Puducherry" and "JIPMER Karaikal" separately and add each to your list.
• Check the previous year’s closing NEET rank for each campus and category to gauge your realistic chances.
• If you hold a valid UT Puducherry domicile certificate, also search for P-UR / P-SC / P-OBC-NCL sub-category seats specific to JIPMER.

Step 3: Build and Arrange Your Preference List

• Place JIPMER Puducherry above JIPMER Karaikal in your list if Puducherry is your first preference.
• Add 15% AIQ government medical college seats below your JIPMER choices as backup options.
• Aim for at least 15–20 total choices across all eligible categories — a longer list never hurts and costs nothing extra.
• Click "Save" to store your current list; you can update it at any time before locking.

Step 4: Lock Your Choices

• Once satisfied with your list, click "Lock Choices."
• A confirmation screen displays your final preference order — review it one last time.
• Click "Confirm Lock." Your choices are final and cannot be edited after this point.
• Download and save the locked-choice confirmation page for your records.

After the window closes, MCC processes all locked lists and generates the merit-based seat allotment result.

You must upload scanned copies of required documents during MCC online registration and carry originals with one set of self-attested photocopies when reporting to JIPMER. Seats are cancelled if original documents are not produced on the joining date or fail verification against uploaded scans.

Note: For the Open Seat OBC-NCL category, only a Central Government format OBC-NCL certificate is accepted. State OBC certificates are not valid here. How Much Money is Needed for JIPMER Counselling 2027?

MCC collects the counselling fee in two parts: a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit. Both are paid at the time of MCC registration on mcc.nic.in. JIPMER is a Central Government-funded institution, so MBBS tuition fees at JIPMER are among the lowest in India — these are payable separately to JIPMER only after joining, and their exact amounts for 2027 will be published in the JIPMER prospectus.

Non-Refundable Registration Fee

This fee is charged at registration and is never returned — not even if you receive no seat allotment in any round.

Refundable Security Deposit

The security deposit is collected at registration and serves as a financial commitment. MCC refunds it in full to students who receive no seat allotment across all rounds. Students who join an allotted seat have the deposit adjusted or returned per MCC’s round-specific rules. Students who choose Float retain their deposit while participating in subsequent rounds — it is not forfeited during the Float period.

If you withdraw after accepting a seat in Round 3 or fail to report to JIPMER by the joining deadline, the security deposit is forfeited per MCC regulations. JIPMER Counselling 2027 Round-Wise Seat Allotment

MCC conducts four rounds of counselling for JIPMER MBBS seats. Seats that remain vacant after each round are carried forward to the next round. The bulk of JIPMER Puducherry seats — the most competitive — typically fill in Rounds 1 and 2. Rounds 3 and Stray Vacancy have fewer seats and are less predictable in terms of which categories have residual vacancies.

MCC’s allotment algorithm scans each student’s locked choice list from the top and assigns the highest-ranked choice where the student’s NEET rank and category qualify. When two students compete for the same seat, the one with the higher NEET score is allotted. Float students from Round 1 automatically continue into Round 2 — fresh registration is not required for them. Fresh registration is only needed for students entering counselling for the first time in Round 2.

Float vs Freeze vs Withdraw in JIPMER Counselling 2027

After each round’s seat allotment result, you must respond online within the MCC-specified deadline. MCC uses three post-allotment options. "Float" is MCC’s official term for what students commonly call an "upgrade" — it keeps your current seat while giving you another chance at a better choice in the next round, with no physical reporting required during the Float period.

Choose Float if you received JIPMER Karaikal but want JIPMER Puducherry in Round 2, or if you received a 15% AIQ government seat but prefer JIPMER. Choose Freeze once you are satisfied with your JIPMER campus allotment — it secures the seat immediately with no further uncertainty. If you withdraw after accepting a seat in Round 3 or after physically joining JIPMER, the security deposit is forfeited and your MBBS admission is permanently cancelled.

Note: The Float option is NOT available in Round 3 or the Stray Vacancy Round — only Freeze or Withdraw is permitted. Students who physically join JIPMER in Round 3 cannot resign afterwards. This makes the Freeze vs Float decision in Rounds 1 and 2 particularly important.

Reporting to JIPMER After Seat Allotment

After choosing Freeze — or when allotted in Round 3 or the Stray Vacancy Round — you must physically report to the allotted JIPMER campus within the joining deadline stated in your allotment letter. Failure to report by the last joining date automatically cancels your allotment — no extension is granted by MCC or JIPMER.

• Report to the Academic / Admissions Section at JIPMER Puducherry (main campus, Puducherry) or JIPMER Karaikal, as specified in the allotment letter.
• Carry all original documents and one complete set of self-attested photocopies of each (refer to Documents Required section).
• JIPMER officials will verify your originals against the documents you uploaded to MCC during online verification.
• Pay the first-year joining fee, tuition fee, and applicable hostel deposit at the designated fee counter or as directed in JIPMER’s joining instructions for 2027.
• Obtain your provisional admission letter from the Academic Section after fee payment and document verification are complete.
• Undergo the mandatory medical fitness examination if required in JIPMER’s 2027 joining instructions.
• Apply for on-campus hostel accommodation at the Hostel Office, subject to availability.
• Attend the orientation programme / induction on the date notified by JIPMER after joining.

Students who chose Float in Rounds 1 or 2 and received an upgrade must report to the upgraded (new) JIPMER campus, not the originally allotted one. Students who floated but received no upgrade must report to the originally allotted campus once they decide to Freeze after Round 3 closes.
