NID 2019 SELECTION PROCESS
NATIONAL LEVEL OFFLINE TEST
National Institute of Design (NID) is going to conduct the Design Aptitude Test (DAT 2019) for the admissions in B. Des. and M. Des. programs on January 06, 2019. DAT is the first step for NID 2019 Selection Process. Admission to various UG and PG Level programs is subject to candidate passing the subsequent Studio Test and Personal Interview successfully.

The Primary objective of the NID 2019 Selection Process is to assess of the perception, attitude, aptitude, achievement and motivation essential in a potential design student. It is important to note for all the candidates that mere appearance in DAT 2019 or being in the rank list neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement to admission. It is mandatory for all the applicants to pass through 3 steps of NID 2019 Selection Process. Based on the scores obtained in step 1 i.e. DAT 2019, shortlisted candidates for B.Des. and M.Des. has to appear for the step 2 (Studio Test) and Step 3 (Personal Interview) of the NID Selection
Process for Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Gandhinagar campuses.
Based on the scores obtained in DAT 2019, shortlisted candidates for GDPD (Graduate Diploma Program in Design) has to appear for a second round of exams as notified separately by NID Vijayawada. The weightage for every step of the admission process will be decided by the institute only.
Candidates must note that NID reserves the right to verify the information provided by the candidate at any stage of the selection procedure. Candidates who fail to meet the criteria or has provided any fake information would be immediately debarred from participating any further in the NID 2019 Admission Process.
Studio Test is the second step in the Selection Procedure of NID 2019. A candidate after clearing the Design Aptitude Test (DAT), has to appear for the Studio Test. Only shortlisted candidates, based on the scores obtained in the first step of NID 2019 Selection Procedure i.e. DAT (Design Aptitude Test) will be eligible to participate in the Studio Tests and Personal Interview. There will be separate Admit Card issued for NID 2019 Studio Tests and Personal Interviews. Admit cards are available for the shortlisted candidates on the Official Admission portal of NID - http://admissions.nid.edu. A candidate without a valid admit card will not be allowed to appear for the Studio Test.
The final step in NID 2019 Selection Procedure after successfully clearing the studio test is to face the personal interview. Personal interview is the last and third step of NID 2019 Selection Process. With the completion of personal interview Selection Procedure for NID 2019 ends and candidates are evaluated on the basis of three tier selection method.
There are three designated Test centers that are allotted to candidates appearing for the studio test and personal interviews. Candidates are then evaluated on the basis of scores obtained in all three steps i.e. Design Aptitude Test, Studio Test and Personal Interview, of the selection procedure for NID 2019.
The studio test for B. Des. will take place at Ahmedabad campus only. Overseas candidates seeking admission in B. Des and M. Des. will also have to appear for Studio test and Interviews at the Ahmedabad campus only. After the completion of the studio test, a personal interview is conducted for judging applicants’ ability, personality and dedication towards the course, in person.
