TS LAWCET Syllabus: Osmania University does not release any official syllabus for the examination. As per the previous year papers and model papers, we have assembled the syllabus for the test takers to prepare for the exam better.

This year, TS LAWCET 2019 is expected to be scheduled in May 2019 in online (computer-based) mode. This test offers law aspirants a gateway to 5-year LLB program and 3-year LLM program offered by 20 law colleges in the state of Telangana. The examination will consist of 120 MCQs of 1 mark each. The total duration is 90 minutes. There is no negative marking for an unanswered or incorrect answer.

TS LAWCET Section-wise Question Distribution

Questions in the examination are designed to evaluate a candidate’s ability and aptitude to pursue Law as a career. There are three parts to the paper viz.

Note: For 5 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Intermediate level and for 3 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Degree Level

TS LAWCET Syllabus: General Knowledge & Mental Ability

Part A consists of 30 questions carrying 30 marks each. In this section, questions are based on logical reasoning and static general awareness.

General Knowledge section will include questions from:

  • Indian Constitution
  • Indian Culture & Heritage
  • Indian Polity
  • Current Affairs – National & International
  • Economy etc.

TS LAWCET Syllabus: Current Affairs

This entire section consists of 30 questions from the events that have happened in the country and around the globe in recent. It covers news articles on affairs of importance on numerous topics like-

  • Polity
  • Economics
  • Awards and Achievements
  • Scientific Discoveries and Inventions
  • And further topics of relevance.

The only source of material to prepare for this section is newspapers and news channels. Read them regularly to stay updated on the events of the past and current year.

TS LAWCET Syllabus: Aptitude for the Study of Law

Part C of the paper is made up of 60 questions based on Legal Aptitude. As per the instructions are given by the organizers of the exam, questions from basic laws and Constitution of the country will be given in this section and they will be of elementary level.

Mercantile Law: 

  • General Principles of Contract

  • Indian Contract Act-1872

Labour Law: 

  • Trade Union Act 1926
  • Industrial Disputes Act 1947

Crimes and Torts:

  • Indian Penal Code -General Principles & General Exceptions
  • TORTS: General Principles of Tort
  • Joint liability
  • State liability for torts; Consumer Protection Act,1986

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) & Other Law:

  • Copyright Act, 1957; Patents Act, 1970
  • Environmental Protection Act, 1986
  • Human Rights, The Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993
  • Salient features of Information Technology Act, 2000
  • The Right to Information Act 2005

Things to Remember

  • TS LAWCET Exam Date 2019 – Releasing shortly
  • Take your admit card and passport size photograph at the examination center.
  • Duration of Exam – 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Report at the examination center at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam.
  • Qualifying marks in TS LAWCET is 35% (i.e. 42 marks out of total 120 marks). No minimum qualifying marks for SC and ST for ranking.
