TS LAWCET Syllabus 2018

Osmania University does not release an official TS LAWCET Syllabus. As per the previous year papers and model papers, we have defined the syllabus for LAWCET 2018.

The state level law entrance examination is scheduled for May 25, 2018. This test offers law aspirants a gateway to 5-year LLB program and 3-year LLM program offered by 20 law colleges in the state of Telangana.

TS LAWCET is a Computer Based Test consisting 120 questions of 1 mark each. The total duration is 90 minutes. There is no negative marking for an unanswered or incorrect answer. Check complete TS LAWCET Exam Pattern

TS LAWCET 2018 Syllabus

Questions in the examination are designed to evaluate a candidate’s ability and aptitude to pursue Law as a career. There are three parts in the paper viz.

Note: For 5 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Intermediate level and for 3 year Law Course, the standard expected is of Degree Level

AP LAWCET Syllabus: General Knowledge and Mental Ability Syllabus

Part A consists of 30 questions carrying 30 marks each. In this section, questions are based on logical reasoning and static general awareness.

General Knowledge section will include questions from:

  • Indian History
  • Indian Constitution
  • Indian Culture & Heritage
  • Indian Polity
  • Current Affairs – National & International
  • Economy etc.

Mental Ability Syllabus

  • Complex Arrangements
  • Coding & Decoding
  • Non-Verbal Series
  • Direction and Distances
  • Linear Arrangements
  • Blood Relationships
  • Routes & Networks
  • Verbal Series
  • Alphabet Test
  • Symbols and Notations
  • Data Interpretation Test
  • Data Sufficiency Test
  • Problems Based on Symmetry
  • Ordering & Sequencing
  • Problems Based on Visual Ability
  • Analytical Reasoning

TS LAWCET Syllabus: Current Affairs

This entire section consists of 30 questions from the events that have happened in the country and around the globe in recent. It covers news articles on affairs of importance on numerous topics like-

  • Polity
  • Economics
  • Awards and Achievements
  • Scientific Discoveries and Inventions
  • And further topics of relevance.

The only source of material to prepare for this section is newspapers and news channels. Read them regularly to stay updated on the events of the past and current year.

TS LAWCET Syllabus Aptitude for the Study of Law

Part C of the paper is made up of 60 questions based on Legal Aptitude. As per the instructions given by the organizers of the exam, questions from basic laws and Constitution of the country will be given in this section and they will be of elementary level.

Public International Law:

  • International Law and Municipal Law
  • Subjects, State Territory, Air, Sea and outer space
  • Nationality and Statelessness
  • State Jurisdiction
  • United Nations

Mercantile Law:

  • General Principles of Contract
  • 1-75
  • Indian Contract Act-1872

Labour Law:

  • Trade Union Act 1926
  • Industrial Disputes Act 1947

Crimes and Torts:

  • Indian Penal Code -General Principles & General Exceptions
  • TORTS: General Principles of Tort
  • Joint liability
  • State liability for torts; Consumer Protection Act,1986

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) & OTHER LAWS:

  • Copyright Act, 1957; Patents Act, 1970
  • Environmental Protection Act, 1986
  • Human Rights, The Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993
  • Salient features of Information Technology Act, 2000
  • The Right to Information Act 2005
