Indira Gandhi National Open University, IGNOU has taken an important decision and has announced to make SC students graduate for free.

The decision taken by IGNOU will be a big relief for SC students who drop out after class XII. Meanwhile, students of other castes will be charged.

The open university is currently accepting online applications for free courses. SC Students who are interested in applying can apply online for graduate courses BA, B.Com and B.Sc from the official website of IGNOU.

After applying students will receive every information related to the course through messages on his/her mobile number.

This move by IGNOU will benefit admission deprived SC students. Every year there is a cut-throat competition for admission in colleges, due to which many promising students are denied admission due to lack of merit.

Such students can now continue their studies by enrolling in a course run by the distance education department of IGNOU university. The distance examination is conducted twice a year.

Earlier this year, IGNOU launched a Master's programme in Sanskrit through both open and distance mode

Students interested in applying for admission can apply online from the website of the university till 31st July
