Remarks

After completing my 12th, I wanted to pursue Mathematics and hence decided to do maths Hons from Delhi university. I studied and researched about Maitreya college and talked to some alumni and found it quite good. It has all the facilities including good academics as well as extracurricular. I was waiting for its shortlists and finally got admission in its 5th cutoff. Basically, you should have your 12th score equal to or more than the cut off to be eligible for admission. The good thing is this is a girls college. Also, the faculty is very supportive and intelligent. So it has been a good experience here for two and a half years.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I had a great passion for Mathematics, that's why I was sure of taking maths Hons and my decision proved to be good after getting admission here. The syllabus is up to today's requirement and the teachers are actually very particular about the syllabus and students understanding of each concept. We even had extra doubt classes. Also, practical studies are there along with theory to get a better understanding. We have our mid sem exams in between whose marks are considered for internal. Basically, it's 75 for theory, 10 for mid sem exams, 10 for presentation/ assignment and 5 for attendance and we have a total of 6 semesters. So basically there is no such burden for the studies as we enjoy it along with other activities.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

There is an annual internship fair every year which gives thousands of internship opportunities. Apart from that, we are provided internship opportunities every month with different companies. some are unpaid while some are with a stipend that varies from 1000 to 10000. Some good companies that come this time are Bajaj capital, Skyll.me, Resumod, Elite and many more. Basically, there is a good opportunity to boost up your CV.

Placement Experience

4

The placement cell is actually very good and provides a lot of opportunities. There is an annual internship fair also where 100s of companies come and recruit students of all years and all courses as interns and the maximum stipend for these internships even go to 10k per month for just a part-time internship. The job opportunities are there but not very good for the science stream, they are much better for commerce and humanities. There are many Tier A and tier B companies recruiting a good amount of students like VQMS, SMAASH and many NGOs also. The placement percentage is around 60% and most of the students want to do post-graduation for further growth. I have plans to do MBA after my graduation.

Fees and Financial Aid

The good thing about our college and the whole of Delhi University is the fees. We have to pay just 10,000 for the whole year including all the college fees. There are separate scholarships available also whose notification is given by teachers when forms are available. But the Non- Delhi students face issues in staying. The PGs are a little expensive near the college (Satya Niketan) and many of them are too congested. But yes if you are able to find good roommates and good pg, then surely your college life, as well as pg life, is going to be great.

Campus Life

4.5

Our college fest "RHAPSODY" is very famous. Last year in Feb 2020 we had DARSHAL RAVAL on our campus and the crowd there was just amazing. The fest time is the best to enjoy and also we have many other colleges nearby ap we can visit them too. There are many college societies here like for dance, music, fashion, dramatics, entrepreneurship cell and placement cell. There are different departments and various activities are usually going on there. Anybody can get good experience in these societies and can follow their passion along with studies. The library of our college is amazing. The peaceful environment can make anyone interested in studies. Also, there is the option of an E-library where we can avail books online also and the library also provides us previous year question paper for more help. The classrooms are actually not very good. We often had this problem that we were not able to get the alloted classroom. The sports ground is very large and equipped with many sports amenities.

I will rate the course curriculum 8/10. I like the labs specially they are modern with well equiped systems. According to me I suggest to improve the course structure to include more practical based learning instead of theory. Overall course is good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I think that the course curriculum is good and well managed . The curriculum has all necessary subjects related to our course as well as all other necessary subjects like human values and basic ethics. I find our course curriculum is apt for our course . Thought their is a lag for more practical learning and skills. It will be better if they add more practical learning.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus of Electronics Hons and Electrical Engineering is same but makes it different is how we perceive it. We study the syllabus with theoretical aspects while the engineers with practical aspects. We have a chance to opt for the 4th year, which only comprises of Research. One of the optionals is Generic Elective and if you take GE from same department for all semesters, you will attain a minor degree. The Faculties and whole curriculum is great but the other optionals require improvement. The other optionals only make the Student Life hectic, that stumbles the Student's focus from Course track.

Some companies that visit here are TCS, Wipro and few more the no of offers made depend upon the performance of student in the placement cell. The highest package as per my knowledge is 13 lakhs and the average here is 6 lakhs. Sorry for the inconvenience but I don't have any knowledge regarding the job profile given. The placement percentage changes every year depending upon the respective batch. My planning after the course is either placement otherwise my prime goal CSE.
