The admission process of getting selected into Daulat Ram College for BA (H) Economics is similar to any Delhi University college, that is, merit. I got admitted in the 4th cut-off released by Delhi University. Daulat Ram College(DRC) is a pre-eminent college for women. It has a fully operational Placement Cell which efficaciously bridges the gap between the students and the corporate world. Another reason I chose this college over others is because of its prime location of North Campus which creates a tribe of students, enabling them to be a part of gratifying college life.
I had a profound interest in Economics since the day it was introduced to me. The curiosity to gain knowledge about the economy combined with my analytical bend of mind makes this subject truly fascinating. The faculty: student ratio is 1:60. DRC has well-experienced and qualified teaching faculty. Because of the pandemic, the college admissions started very late off and the term exams got postponed. Talking about the examination question papers, they were very much doable.
The Placement Cell provides great internship opportunities to students with proficient companies and NGOs. The number of internship companies it dealt with was more than 120 last year. The job profiles offered include sales, marketing, campus ambassador, research and strategy, business development, and much more with varying stipends.
The Placement Cell of Daulat Ram College provides opportunities to build a strong career ahead. Last year, its gross package was Rs. 4 crore+, the highest package was 9 LPA. Total recruitment companies were 85+ and Total Internship companies were 120+.
The fee structure of Daulat Ram College is fully accredited with Delhi University. My course, BA (H) Economics, has a fee of Rs. 15,890. Additional fee concessions and financial assistance is given to students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and other backward societies.
DRC has multiple cells and societies students can be a part of which not only accelerates the social life of a student but helps gain crucial skills that go long way. The college provides facilities like Library, Reading Room, Computer Labs, Amphitheatre, Canteen, Bank, etc.
The students of the final year are eligible for campus placements. There are a no. of companies that visited our college like Oracle, ICICI Bank, IDFC Bank, HDFC Bank, and many other companies. The highest package they offer is Rs.5 Lakhs. 95% of the students get placed under the campus placement. I am planning to complete my masters after my graduation.
The college has around 60-70 % placement cell in which students are placed from my college. The different companies that visited my college are Amazon, Myntra zone media, etc. The average package offered by my college is 2-3 lakhs. The student gets opportunities to work from home as well as from locations like Noida.
After semester 4 you are eligible for the placements. There were many companies like Reddit, Zomato, etc. So the maximum offer in 2019 was 13 lacs per annum which was offered to 2 students. Also mostly students got 5 to 6 lacs per annum. 98% of students got placed in 2019.
I chose political sciences Hons. as PGDAV College is the 3rd best college having the best political science faculties. In a class, there are up to 85 students and around 15 to 20 teachers. Most of them have done P.h.D in their course. Their tracking method is best. They are neither too strict nor too lenient towards the students. Besides helping in studies, they also solve and give advice on other college-related problems too. In a year, two-semester exams are held which is not hard to pass, all thanks to our teachers and their teaching methods. Besides this, teachers also give us assignments on a regular basis to enhance our knowledge and learning and take internal assessments.
Eligibility for the placements was made in accordance with the requirements by the company that was present. The average package was about 10 LPA and the highest package was 13 LPA CTC. The percentage of the eligible students getting placed was about 80%. Apart from commerce students, the majority of the students were interested in landing a government job.
The campus has a placement cell that is active the whole year, the students can have work experience from their first semester itself depending on their interest. The cell bonds with many companies with 1 lakh per annum. I will be going for public policy after graduation from the field of political science.
From semester 4, students become eligible for campus placement. Several reputable companies have to tie up with SGND Khalsa College. Companies like Amazon, Flipkart, etc. In 2019, more than 70% of the students get a job through campus placement. I am an English Hons graduate, so became a Content Writer.
The aspirants are required to fill up a common registration form for Delhi University Colleges. One can select as many course as they wish to. The registration fee varies for students from different categories. Once the board results are out, the university releases a common cut off list for different colleges, for different courses. The students have to then go to the college with which their cut off matches with all the required documents to secure their admission. Apart from merit based admissions, DU has a provision for students to apply via ECA (Extra Curriculum Activities). The process for the same is explained in detail on the official site.
We have an active placement cell in college, but I did not sit for placements so there isn’t much I can tell. There are placements and job opportunities but they are limited.
