Remarks

DU takes admission on two bases. One is on the basis of merit i.e. marks in 12th standard. The other is through its entrance test i.e. DU JAT. Located at the heart of the north campus, Ramjas college has one of the biggest campuses. Ramjas College takes admission on a merit basis. The college is one of the tops under DU. It is especially known for its diversity and quality of arts and commerce courses. I took admission in B.A. program course. Ramjas is one of the only colleges to provide 3 categories of B.A. program courses ( category A, category B and category C) offering a variety of subject combinations to the students. I took admission in the C category of B.A. The program which has the highest cut offs. Under category Students can choose combination of any two subjects from maths/ economics/ philosophy/ Pol Science/ English/ Hindi / History. I took admission under the first cutoff(eco + maths) which was at 96 percent for my category. I scored 96 percent marks in 12th too.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

B.A. program courses unlike Hons course provide students to study two different subjects at a time instead of one. It offers variety and choices to students to what to pursue further. Ramajs being one of the best colleges under DU for the B.A. program has excellent faculty members. The curriculum for the courses is well planned and laid out. Each semester introduces a variety of new topics to the students in the syllabus. They faculty members are well qualified and they know what they are teaching. The mode of teaching is mostly bi-lingual( hindi & english). DSince the classes are being held online d, different teachers have different methods of teaching. Some teach through power point slides, while others only give lectures. One thing that is a big problem in online mode at the college is the irregularity of the classes. The classes are very irregular. Teachers take class whenever they wish to. Sometimes days pass and no classes are taken. The exams are Open Book Exams and really easy

Fees and Financial Aid

Since Ramjas college is a government college and comes under DU, therefore, for a student like me who belongs to general category the annual fees of the college is very much affordable and cheap. The college also provides admission on the basis of reservation. The fees for the reserved categories is much less and cheaper than general students. The college also provides national scholarships every year for students with good academic and extracurricular performance. It also distributes annual prizes on the bases of yearly perdormance of students

Campus Life

1

DU is currently conducting all it's classes online. Therefore, Ramjas college is also conducting classes online. Neither they are willing to open colleges soon despite corona's situation is under control. Currently, students have almost 0 campus life. Many students haven't visited college even once, Students are dying to get to college but it seems DU is not willing to finish its vacation. This is destroying a major part of students' campus life. However, Ramjas college is open for library use. The college has quite a big library with two floors. This includes a big rading hall. Books regarding almost every subject is available. Other than that various fiction books are also available at the library. As mentioned, since the colleges are closed there are no fest and extracurricular activities being held at the campus. Students are dying for this to happen tho. The college has various societies such as literary, drama, etc. Currently, fests are being held online.

Placement Experience:

The placement opportunities are mainly for commerce stream departments but the humanities stream also are offered internship from the government ministries such as ministry of culture and Home ministry. There are many private companies that come to offer placements. The students from 3rd year in particular apply for internships. The highest package iffered is 500000 and the average is 250000. About 45% students get placements. My plan after getting the degree is to go for higher studies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Being brutally honest I don't think that the course contributes a lot to our preparation for the real world but it teaches us very new things which I like. The course might not be very helpful in our real life preparation or the preparation for the real world but at the same time it enhances our knowledge and teachers as about various new things so I am satisfied with my course and whatever the curriculum includes I like it

In term of relevance I'll say that there are many topics which should not be taught as they are way too old and contradicting in modern times. New tumes problems and solutions should be taught in replace focusing on present.

Placement Experience:

Final year students are generally placed with an average package of 7-8 lakhs for management programs. Companies including the big 4 like EY, KPMG, Deloitte and other reputed companies have visited and many offers have been made. Around 60% of the students get placed in management branch. After getting the degree, I am also planning to appear in the placement opportunities.
