Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The curriculum of my course is mostly based on the theoritcal and practical knowledge to analyse the questions to give appropriate answers . I was interested in the curriculum field as jt helps me to explore the media industry and to understand how media literally form a great role in the society as it also a fourth pillar of our democracy. The curriculum provides us the theoritcal knowledge to be followed during our real life challenge when we enter the industry but the curriculum lack on the focussing of practical knowledge as our course mostly dealt with the practicality of media only. So with the above stated problem I think that curriculum should add some of the practical papers too for examing the understanding level of students. The difficultity level of our exams is quite good that forces us to study well with clear understanding of concept and use different mind application to solve the problems.

Fees and Financial Aid

Current, the yearly fee structure of journalism hons. degree in my college is 23080 rupees that is almost a highest budget course in my college among other courses. Earlier the fee was 22k something but this there is an increment in the fee structure. All the types of fee for college developmen, library management and other colleges related works are included in this but we have to pay again for examination form fee . My batchmates of journalism hons. degree pays the same amount of fee in this course. There are very few scholarship and financial aid that are given to all categories students, till now I have seen only forms that are only available for specific categories or minority communities which restricts the need of mine to apply for scholarship opportunities.

Campus Life

2.5

The annual fest of kalindi college is called Lehren where we have great performances during the 2 days event incorporated with many great stalls and activities. There are some other fests too that are organised by the faculty of different subject and other group like sports , nss and many other that conduct their specific fests for all . Ther are less number of books that are available for journalism course but many others for more courses. We have not great facilities of infrastructure and technological provisons in our classrooms, less numer of working projectors except some specific rooms or proper labs. We have good sports and extracurricular faculties that helps student to join in with many other activities except studying. We have our official pages for the college that are handled by Students under guidance of the teachers. Proper handles of each subject faculty and other activities and group handles that helped tk provife accurate information to students.

Admission

I have applied for Journalism course and political hons course but because of my rank and preference selection, I got only Kalindi college. As , i belong to a middle class family so I can't afford to pay for a private college so I didn't try to apply in those colleges but I tried to change my college by selecting the options for ranking up my college from my preference but my college list didn't get upgraded so I fixed this college seat for me and got me admitted in kalindi only. But I was happy to be in this college as I got to know later that there are only 5-6 journalism colleges of du that provides journalism as a course and this is better then most of them. For being eligible we have to give the entrance test after 12th with the subjects that we studied in 12th then we rank with other students and the preference selection list that we made and the marks we got in the cuet test during which later helps us to be in a better college.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty teachers of my course are quite approachable , they understand the difficulties that students are facing and tries to give some solutions. We don't have much interaction with other faculty teachers , there are only few teachwrs of other faculty that we are able to interact for our subject but I liked some of my faculty professors . • The Du University conducts examination for all batches 2 times a year and the are of average basis as it differs with the subject sometimes, that how difficult or easy the paper can be so it . There are less number of students that faced back in some examination but they are managed to clear it in the end of session . The examination paper is relevant to the subject paper that we study whole year .

Placement of our college is pretty good almost 80% students get good placement but at the same time its very important to know that you will get college placement at end of you masters as DSJ provides Five year integrated programme in journalism. If you exit your college after bachelor you might get placement from outside campus.

Students become eligible for the campus placement after their 3rd - 4th semester. The highest package we got is about 300000 annually. As most of the students get placed in very good companies. After getting this degree I'm going to work in this field as I'm interested in video editing.
