Daulat Ram College a haven for girls

The course is very integrate and put together well. It's divided into both American and British Literature. Shakespeare is a complete paper by itself and so is Indian English Literature. During the 3rd year students also get optional paper which they can pick based on their area of interests for instance, Literatry Criticism, Film studies etc. If one decides to prepare for NET and other such competitive exams, being well versed with their graduation syllabus will do wonders for them. The exams are spread onto a yearly basis with two semester exams and two midterms in a year. Midterms help keep us on our toes and stay true to the course. The questions follow the university protocols and are graded locally.

There are few internships available depending on the placement cell. It differs on a yearly basis. I personally volunteered at UMEED that was an NGO, hence unpaid. However, many content writing opportunities do present themselves. The stipend usually amounts to 5k-7k per month.

We paid a cumulative amount of Rs. 15,475 per year for a 3 year course. The fee was inclusive of registration, admission, development and other such fee. The English department has no particular use of labs hence, no fee. Also on a yearly basis, students can apply for fee recession from the college where a part of the fee is returned. An income certificate of the student needs to be submitted with their college id card if the student wishes to avail it, considering they meet the requirements.

There are a number of fests and festivals held. Each department has its own fest alongside the annual college fest. Moreover, festivals like Diwali call for further more fests. The annual fest is usually held during March-April and Jalsa during Diwali. The facilities in classrooms are okay but can be improved. However there are rooms equipped with AC. The sports complex is our pride. It is huge with a gym in built. There are various societies for students to join for instance dance, music, debate, fashion etc

I always wanted to be a part of DU, and applied only for the same. Daulat Ram College drew me in due to its feminine aura. It felt safe and comfortable, yet challenging enough to not let you sit idle. The number of fests, functions, seminars all adds to an enriched student life. Besides, it is very close to other colleges in the area for a quick drop in to meet friends or attend an event. The admission was quick, documents were checked in a room while students were seated in another. Refreshments were provided and the seating was indoor and not in the Delhi heat. The cut off for the second list was 94.25%, however for UR category the seats are usually filled by 3rd-4th list.

The course professors were very approachable and caring. They provided us with all additional materials if required. Assignments were fun and discussions were held after submission of both assignments and exam papers to get a better understanding of the students grip. Moreover, extra seminars and workshops were help for instance, in my first year an academic writing workshop was held to teach the students how to present their answers and assignments. Considering that it's a very basic task, it is also slightly different from high school. Referencing and citing the articles used for assignments was majorly stressed upon. Over all, it was a cumulative growth from all angles. We had 4 sets of exams, two semester exam and two midterms. The mid terms are usually marked on a strict basis to prevent further mistakes in finals. The course was very relevant and included all the required fields of interest.
