What Students Say
Likes
- They prioritise studies over everything else. Faculty is the BEST (best in entire DU) if you wnna only focus on studies and nothing else.
Dislikes
- Location of the college (although it will be shifted to some other place in few years, constructions are alrdy on)
Course Curriculum Overview
This course basically prepares and covera most part of GS of any government exams as arts students mostly focus in that field. If geography is kept as optional, trust me it covers morw than enough. Apart from govt. exans, if you wanna opt any other thing as career option, it really strengthens your base. You can go in any field related to it. Be it surveys, research, human geography portions, it really helps understands the things on ground level.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for the course is 8500approx yearly. While at the time of admission it is around 18k. Scholarships are provided to single girl child and also to those whose family's annual income is below 7lakh. Apart from these, different types of scholarship exams are taken from time to time with different criterias for the students (eg.- for students who partially are from EWS or students who are extra laborious etc.)
Campus Life
Infrastructure is not so great (not even too bad). Its average. Clubs and socities are active in the college. Digital boards, laptops, wifi and good equipments are provided in the GIS Lab of Geography department. Books are easily accessible in the library. Fests are held, but not as good and hyped as the colleges of north and south campus.
Admission
I really wanted to focus only on studies. Fests, and concerts and other things can also be attended going to other colleges, but studies is something that this college provides on next level. I too wanted to go to north campus, as like other students, i too wanted to enjoy college life keeping studies aside.. and i accidentally landed in this college as i didnt fill the preference sheet of CUET properly. They show this college as north campus on hoogle but it actually is Off Campus. Initially i was unhappy because of the location of the college but then i realizes that fests and other things can be attended remaining in this college as well, and since i'm getting quality education, i must stay here since that is the primary goal.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is like 1professor per 25students. The Geography Dept. actually has the best faculty in the entire university as we found out in Geo Fests since we got to interact with students of other colleges (only 13 colleges provide Geography Hons in the entire Delhi University) Mid sem tests are taken each semester. 2 to 3 assignments are to be made. A project and a presentation on it. Apart fron these, marks are also given on attendance. Altogether, 70 marks for internals alongwith the semester exams and viva. The teachers focus on the studies way too sincerely and provide enough of study materials and notes for studying (unlike other colleges as far as we know)
